I had left my cell phone in a taxi and the guys at the hotel tracked it down for me and got it back. I have no idea how they managed that. The central courtyard and artworks throughout the hotel are really lovely as is the roof terrace where breakfast is served. The staff were all very friendly and helpful - they booked taxis and tours and even rushed to get me breakfast before I had to leave. Guests should be aware that rooms are a bit dark and windows open onto the inner courtyard (not outside). However, this was actually better for keeping out street noise and the bed was incredibly comfortable.. The shower too was one of the best I've had in a hotel in terms of water pressure and quality. This hotel has an art theme and has some beautiful pieces from some of Oaxaca´s most important artists. It is set in a historic building which was renewed with a very nice architectural style. The room we had had a private patio on the side, which was a great feature as my Wife likes to meditate or read early in the morning before going to breakfast. The room is not big enough and has limited space to place clothing. I can't thank them enough for all their recommendations. The hotel has the perfect location everything you need to see in Oaxaca Centro is literally walking distance. The only 2 things I'd comment on that weren't great was the parking situation which ironic enough our car broke down during our stay and the car was at the shop during our stay but you do need to let them know in advance you are coming for them to save you a spot and also it is street parking. While the location is not the most central in Oaxaca, it is still walking distance to the most interesting parts of the city centre. The reception staff were responsive and helpful with most needs though the property is staffed by security at night time which doesn't communicate in English. In fact, this would be a five star review if not for one critical incident. A bluetooth speaker placed in the bedroom started beeping loudly at 4am during my second night here robbing me of a night's sleep. Okay, this is an honest review, we just checked out today! I was a little skeptical because of reviews, but let me say this is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in anywhere that I’ve traveled. Pros: - extremely close to the center of the city where everything is happening, our longest walk was maybe 9 minutes to the mercado - the staff is very friendly and ready to help with anything and everything. They are truly accommodating - the rooms are beautiful, just as you see in the photos - very clean which is a ++ for me! And every time we came back to our room the room was very thoroughly cleaned, not just a little “makeup”. The bed spread was the only thing that seemed a little gross as there were some stains on it. - great water pressure and shower - great tv, if you are coming back to rest with smart options - very serene, we loved it overall A few cons, which I will say will not keep me from coming back. If I visit Oaxaca again (this was our first time) I will stay here if I am able to, so take these with a grain of salt. - we didn’t realize there was breakfast for a while because we arrived late one night, but we wanted to try it. It’s only available 8-12 so we finally went our last day. The coffee was delicious, and so was the loaf of bread. We ordered chilaquiles and they were cold - both of plates. Not a lot of options either. - the mini fridge had many options but every time we opened it, it was warm.
