A wonderful stay in this little cottage

We had to abandon our stay at this property due to the extensive mould and mildew and general lack of cleanliness. We would not recommend staying here.
The master bedroom had mildew on every wall, and the bedding was stained from past instances of black mould.
The bathroom plumbing has an issue - it stank of blocked drains and there was mould around the bath. A mirror had fallen off the wall in the second bedroom and was broken on the floor.
Thick grey dust and dead bugs were in every room. The whole house smelled of damp. We had to vacuum the property from top to bottom and disinfect surfaces.
Previous reviews talked about mould being painted over. Can confirm that this is there, and that it appears to have come back. We've stayed in older properties before, and know that they can have some issues (we even live in one, so know how quickly dust can gather) but this property needs more than 'a bit of TLC'.
It took the letting team over 24 hours to find a solution, eventually giving us a full refund. The local team's communication was poor, and they did not keep us updated. They did not come out to see the property.

The cottage is well situated and in a great area if you want to explore North Norfolk. The cottage is really quaint, has all the charm that you would expect, and has two good sized bedrooms and a garden in which you can see all the lovely wildlife in a tranquil environment. However there were issues with cleanliness which we didn't expect for the price we paid. You expect spiders of course being near a field, but the amount of cobwebs, dust, and general dirtiness of the downstairs in particular was pretty poor. We mopped the floor in the kitchen and living area and the water was black; the mop was bone dry so clearly hadn't been used prior to our check in, the cupboard handles were sticky, the large table in the living room area was also filthy and produced a black cloth when cleaned, and when we looked under the sofa to salvage a toy that had disappeared under it, well, we wish we hadn't looked.
There were some lovely touches though, such as the welcome snacks and drinks, which were much appreciated.
It's a shame as if the cottage was up to scratch with cleaning, and had a lick of needed paint (particularly up the stairs where there seems to have been an attempt to paint over the mould), then the property would be 5 stars. We just feel that for the price we paid for 4 nights, the level of care and attention in ensuring a comfortable stay in which we didn't have to clean prior to use, should have been better.
