This beautiful home offers 3 bedrooms and 1 full bath. Downstairs bedrooms include a queen and full bed. There is a very narrow spiral staircase leading to the second floor where there are 4 twin beds and a gaming area for your children to enjoy. We provide all linens and 8 beach towels and 8 bath towels. We are pet friendly for a pet fee of $100\. Please confirm when booking so that we can approve your pet. There is a park in walking distance for your children and pets as well as the beach directly across the street. Our front yard is fenced in but it does not have a gate on it. We do get beach burs in the grassy areas sometimes during the year. We try and eliminate them but they are common at the beach. You will feel right at home in our kitchen and bathroom with all appliances including dishwasher, coffee maker, pots/pans and dishware. We have on-site parking for up to 5 vehicles, and a tranquil shaded back yard complete with a grill and picnic table all across the street from the beautiful Chesapeake Bay and beach. If you are military or are interested in long term rentals during the winter, please let us know at 757-639-4855 and we can discuss potential arrangements. Whether you enjoy crabbing, fishing, skim boarding, swimming in the Spring and Summer or walking through the historic district of downtown Norfolk in the Fall and coming back and cuddling up by the fire place, it's all here year round. What a wonderful place to just relax, shop or to find great adventure. Here you will experience the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets with miles of safe beaches to stroll and play. You are certain to enjoy yourself in East Ocean View. Bring plenty of suntan lotion, and be sure to bring your boat, if you have one. Our local boat ramp and marina are just blocks away. Beach towels and 2 chairs available Located on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay in Norfolk, Virginia 23518 \- Washer & Dryer \- As a courtesy to our guests, we provide 1 Roll of paper towels, 1 roll of toilet paper, 1 trash bag, small bottle of dawn and 1 dishwasher tab. These will help you get started when you first arrive but you will need to bring additional supplies depending on the time you are renting including laundry detergent and toiletries. \- Fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel pots and pans, dish ware, glasses, and silverware to accommodate 8 guests \- Central heating and cooling system \-The hardwood flooring downstairs is original from the 50's. We had them sealed in 2022 but even after cleaning sand gets into the crevices. We do our best to clean the floor but it tends to still have sand from all the beach traffic on it even after cleaning. We mention this to be completely transparent so that if this would bother you then another beach home without original hardwood floors would be better for you. We don't want anyone unhappy and want to make sure we identify and communicate everything both positive and negative about our cottage. \-If you want a completely bug free experience for your vacation then a beach house is probably not the place to vacation. We employ a pest control company that comes several times per quarter and sprays outside and inside of home. Unfortunately bugs still get into our cottage and no matter how many times we have it sprayed some still come in between the treatments. We hate all bugs but cannot guarantee a bug free stay living at the beach. We would rather you choose a location that will guarantee no pests than to come to our cottage and be unhappy because of finding any types of pests as we can't treat any more frequently than we already do. Most of the time we don't have any but still on occasion they come back. We do not offer refunds because of pests. During the winter months from December to March we do offer long term rentals. The front yard was well lit, and good for taking our pups out at night. I was grateful to find somewhere available over Christmas that accepted two dogs. The kitchen was well-equipped and reasonably clean. This is a pet-friendy rental near the beach, the overall cleanliness of the unit was perhaps reflective of that. Location was close to a BEAUTIFUL beach, that was sparsely used for the holiday weekend. The beach access was across the road, and the road was very busy and loud at times, but there was a light and crosswalk nearby. There was a nice park, basically next door, and we very much enjoyed the Saturday farmers market. Front porch was nice and we enjoyed sitting out there every evening, but had to drag dining room chairs in and out to do so. Off street parking was nice, plenty of room for two cars, three if you are good at tight turn arounds. The two full size beds downstairs were comfortable, the four twin beds upstairs were good too. The spiral staircase is very steep & narrow, but navigable for those without any mobility issues. Cute kitchen with nice appliances, laundry on site was nice. Our only really big complaint was that the house desperately needed a deep cleaning, which we assume was from alot of use over the summer, but still, it was not clean and grossed everyone out. The back yard was also in desperate need of attention, it was cluttered and had leaves built up, junk in piles, etc. We spent the first few hours cleaning the house, which we should not have needed to do. However, we did let the owners know and they apologized stating they have the house deep cleaned quarterly, which is not often enough. There was space enough for everyone but yes, one bathroom. The laundry was appreciated. The kitchen was adequate and we didn’t have problems with electricity or WiFi. The backyard really is just for parking only, as the neighbors are quite messy and the tree drops a lot of debris.The location is not beachfront but is easily walkable, crossing the busy street at the corner, less than 5 minutes. On the plus side you’re close to the beach and they’re pet friendly. On the downside, the house was dirty when we got there. Exploded beer was left in the freezer so there was beer all over the ice and walls inside. The floors were dirty and gritty and there was a pink film in the shower. The Wi-Fi needed to be reset over a dozen times. Finally the cable company came out and said that the router was bad, so hopefully that has been fixed. You can’t sit outside due to mosquitoes and traffic noise. The day before the last day of our trip our mother in law saw a mouse in her bedroom. When we told the owner about the issues she was very apologetic, but her solution was to refund 5% of a 2000 stay. The place is very old and is in need of updating. We are easy going couple but when you spend as much as we did the basics like a clean place to stay and working Wi-Fi should be the minimum. ##### James H. It was a great weekend. The house was really nice, Clean and comfortable, although outside left a little to be desired. The back was full of leaf droppings from the many trees, but once we swept it up, it was better. The location was wonderful! It is close to a park and only a couple minutes walk to the beach. The only problem with my stay was that I could not watch tv for 3 days that was disappointing I even followed all the steps to get it working but could not, after about 3 hours trying to get it to work properly I gave up and try to reach the owner and got no response on how to get it working . The road is busy and there's a lot of road noise. The house is old and walls and windows don't conceal much sound. Many outlets are just two prong. The thermostat was set by default to 62, even though we changed it upon arrival, so we woke up freezing in the night. The glass table in the living room is a huge hazard as it regularly moves off the legs. The single trash bag provided was cheap and ripped instantly. We would have loved a cozy throw blanket and a plug for the tub so my kids could take a bath. Many pillows were old and lacked protectors. The beach and park were lovely and the reason we chose the house. The location was perfect in that regard, but we didn't feel safe letting our kids play outside alone. The updated kitchen was nice and we appreciated the cable TV and the towels offered. My kids enjoyed the extra little toys in their room. The host was kind and check in and out were both easy.
