Very handy being next to the station. Everywhere was very clean,and the staff were polite and friendly. Only niggle was the bedroom window was banging all night., but would definitely stay here again.

Would not stay here again .. so dated dusty, gathered all round door frame, food in window sills .. bare wire that insulated tape come away from, TV constantly dropping out as no signal .. polite staff accommodated room change but still not great ..

Me and my son had a lovely stay at the royal station hotel staff very friendly and courteous from the check in including the cleaning ladies and bar staff easy to approach and very helpful,our rooms with comfortable and very clean ,we would gladly stay again in the future.

My brother and I (in our mid sixties ) are fine with old hotels). Drunk guests sleeping outside their doorways because their mates met someone was outside my brothers comfort zone. Friendly drinks though.

Having checked the duty managers report I can see that a guest did fall asleep outside of a room but was woken and put in his room by staff. I am sorry that this disturbed you. Perfect location, I would have liked to have drinking water provided. The receptionist refused initially to tell me that a colleague was waiting in the reception.

On arrival the reception staff were extremely helpful. Throughout my stay the reception staff we met were polite and friendly. The room was clean with the usual facilities available. The wardrobe although small was adequate for my needs. Lots of steps snd stairs so maybe access not as helpful for those with walking difficulties.

Property has a very impressive entrance and reception area. Good breakfast. Rooms are comfortable enough. Great location. Train noise is expected.

Good hotel next to the train station didnt use the pool or gym , breakfast is a bit steep £15 its ok , id go to wetherspoons next time

We loved the elegance of the surroundings at the Royal Station Hotel. The bed was comfortable & the bathroom was spotless. The food was first-rate & afternoon tea was fabulous. TV only gave 2 channels & the picture broke up frequently.

Lovely entrance with good bar area. Rooms good for the age of this property, some modernisation would improve. Pulling two beds together to make a king size bed isn’t really ideal but I guess this is for adaptability usage of the room.

I really liked the room ,it was clean & comfortable ,bathroom had shower & a bath ,which i enjoyed a soak ,very clean. Bed was comfy need better pillows, but apart from that . I would definitely recommend & stay there again . Its a lovely old Hotel with some lovely old features

The heating in the room did not work. When I reported it,they said they didn’t know about it. They said they would send someone to look at it and also bring a portable heater. No one arrived. After 30 minutes I rang reception. No one answered the phone. I went to reception and they said they were too busy to answer the phone. I then stayed in reception until some came with me to my room. He couldn’t get the heating to work so had to use the portable heater. I made a reservation for dinner when I checked in. When I went to the restaurant, I Was ignored. I then went to the bar and enquired. No reservation had been made for me. However they found me a table. It is unacceptable that rooms are rented with working heaters. I have now got a cold resulting from being so cold. They should have switched me to another room that had heating that worked. On the plus side the breakfast was excellent, the reception staff were friendly but obviously not efficient( ie not answering the phone)

The Station Hotel lobby has a real feeling of grandeur, and although it fades in places, the hotel is good value with a bit of history. I have stayed a few times, and the only negative I might note was that the quality of rooms seems quite variable, and difficult to predict from the booking. The pool was fine, and the breakfast mega tasty!

Generally excellent stay but room was unbearably warm. However in fairness as the window doesn’t open there was a fan available but it needed to be on all the time when in the room. Not sure if all rooms are the same

Stunning but faded grandeur which is a shame. We would have had a drink in the bar but large group of noisy men. Staff were excellent but this big issue is the noise from the square till 3-4 am and then the Police sirens kick in. Wanted to open the window as room was hot but noise was unbearable. Seconf night we got ear plugs which helped. Great location but cant imagine coming back
