Hotel with nice staff
The service is great and staff very helpful and friendly. The hotel is close to highway and you can hear the traffic very early in the morning, but this is not a big issue to me. The issues i have are all about the washroom. Hot water is weak, toilet water always draining (problem with the lever ?) . . . It takes about 15 minutes walk to city center where i can find some good dining choice. In the beginning part of the walk the surrounding is unclean & got heavy traffic but it is safe even in the evening. Remark : Due to the current movement restriction after 8pm, i always finish dinner before 8 and back in hotel already.

Warm welcoming and friendly stuff, clean rooms and nice food. Had a great time. I recomend trying their supper deluxe rooms. The receptionst was very helpful, the food was great, only negative rhing mixed tea for breakfast was cold. Otherwise, overall, I loved it.

The hotel was so nice with african style decoration. Food was good too. Staff are really friendly. Local area not walkable in the night, although it is close to city center. Wifi is not good in the rooms. Hotel is good for economy budget.

This was an excellent place to stay for someone wishing to experience local flavor with a reasonable price and simple, friendly comfort. Don’t freak out at the exterior appearance. Once you walk through the doors your heart smiles. Staff was great, room was clean, and hot shower was welcome.

The staff was great. However the price they charge is not worth it’s quality. There were remotes for a TV and a fan and there were neither. It’s in sort of a noisy location. It “ok” for a night if you’re looking for something a little cheaper but I wouldn’t stay there again for that same price.

WiFi decent, hot water hard to control (boiling or cold). No money exchange at hotel. The taxi drivers at the hotel are more expensive than outside. Difficult entry unless you are willing to walk from the round about. Staff is friendly and helpful. Room is dated but comfortable.

we arrived very late in the evening but the staff acted as if it were 5 p.m. the kitchen closes at 12 a.m., and we got there around 11:50 p.m. But they did not hesitate to fill our empty stomachs with some really sweet chicken!

wonderful Nairobi hotel experience
I spent 5 nights at the Kahama Hotel and simply loved this place! I did read all the reviews prior to making my booking and decided to go with it regardless of some of the comments. I will note that this is a hotel in Nairobi. This is not London. If you are looking for an authentic hotel with a real Kenyan feel, and a real Kenyan staff that are kind, thoughtful, and overall wonderful...this is your place. If you are looking for a western experience and have a comfort zone that does not include possibly being surrounded by an African capitol city...then perhaps you should stay in London, or reserve a room somewhere else. For me...this was the perfect experience that fit where I was staying (Nairobi) and worked for me on every level. I feel bad for the hotel to have to look at the negative reviews based on the appearance of being in an "unsafe neighborhood". I took a walk myself to see and I would argue to the contrary. People in Kenya are perhaps the nicest that I have ever met, in all of my travels, and if you can get out of any preconceptions that may exist about seeing a relatively poor neighborhood outside the hotel...then you will find that these people are actually safe, and ultimately...incredibly kind. Please leave your concepts behind and experience the magic of Kenya in its natural state. Its simply wonderful, and I thank everyone at Kahama Hotel for being part of my amazing experience in Nairobi.

Not much, like eateries and super-markets, around.
The hotel is OK for may be one night stay. The family room we stayed is small and pretty basic. Not much in the way of ventilation. I think the only option is to open the window. The toilet is super-small and had trouble in standing for using the washbasin. The toilet flush sometimes work after multiple tries. The wi-fi is just OK. The complimentary breakfast is good but the menu of the attached restaurant is very limited, particularly the main course. The trouble is there are not much eateries around and you are kind of stuck with the restaurant for lunch & dinner unless you decide to travel a little far. Couldn't do web check-in. Apparently the front-desk staffs are pretty clueless about the concept.

I hard a great stay in this hotel, fantastic personal. The only thing I missed is a little garden where to sit outside hotel. But all in all its a great hotel... I will definitely be back one day soon.

Simple hotel with wonderful staff
The staff of the Kahama are delightful. They are very friendly and really try to make you feel welcome. The hotel otherwise is basic but comfortable enough. The location is okay, about a 10 minute walk to Nairobi Central (although everyone eveywhere in Nairobi tells you not to walk because it’s unsafe).

Comfortable hotel in town
We really enjoyed our stay at Kahama hotel. The staff were so kind and welcoming and helpful. My only complaint is that the food was overpriced, and we ended up spending a lot more than we wanted to on food. But otherwise our stay was very comfortable!

I would recommend it. People were friendly rooms were nice Wi-Fi was pretty strong. Only drawback is that the entrance is on one side of the highway so getting to it is sometimes out of the way (uber normally takes longer to get there). But overall a good experience!

Clean and quiet hotel
The hotel is clean and quiet and the staff are very friendly, professional and helpful, The hotel is located very close to the city centre, so it is easy to walk everywhere. Delicious food is available in the restaurant, and good breakfasts are provided daily.

Great hotel with great staff
My wife and I spent only one night at Kahama but we gladly would have stayed longer! The room was comfortable with a large bed. The only downside is we were facing the road, so it was quite loud. Location is very central, we walked to the Nairobi Convention Centre and around the downtown area and got back very easily. The food was excellent. We had dinner at the restaurant downstairs after a day of sightseeing, and we really enjoyed our meal. Breakfast in the morning also had a great selection of African and Western dishes, thoroughly enjoyed it! The staff were very helpful and approachable. In particular, our waiter Paul at dinner and breakfast was great, very kind and a nice person to talk with. He was one of the main reasons we left with a positive impression.

Very good value. Small room but comfortable enough. A little noisy from the road but you'll get used to it. Not a safe area to walk out so you'll need a cab. Nice breakfast and good WiFi.

Poorly maintained hotel
The tv didn't work, no cable, lights did not turn on, freezing showers as the hot water in demand did not work, windows did not close.proprely therefore hwy nearby was loud. Friendly service.
