Nadi is located on the west side of Fiji’s main island, Viti Levu. The city is a good place to shop in the busy downtown area, relax on the beach or learn about local history at an ancient temple. Attractions range from a well-kept 18-hole golf course, to a beautiful orchid garden, to hot springs.
Sun yourself at Wailoaloa Beach or New Town Beach, which offer hotels, restaurants and shops. Dining options include a mix of traditional Chinese, Fijian and Indian dishes, as well as Western favorites.
Green thumbs will delight in the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, located about 10 minutes’ drive north of Nadi. Raymond Burr, most famous for playing the TV character Perry Mason, began this garden in the late 1970s. The impressive orchid collection now features more than 2,000 species and the site is still home to Burr’s holiday house, which is open to visitors for a fee additional to the entry fee to the gardens. The gardens are every day except Sunday.
Check out Port Denarau. Shoppers will enjoy ocean views while they sip a coffee, dine in an upscale restaurant or find something unique at one of the boutiques.
Visit the Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple, the largest Hindu temple in the Southern Hemisphere, showcasing traditional Indian architecture.
After shopping and sightseeing, relax in the Sabeto Hot Springs and Mud Pool, not far from the Garden of the Sleeping Giant. You pay a small fee to visit the springs and mud pool, and if you want extreme relaxation, pay an additional fee for a massage.
Stay safe in Nadi by taking taxis and adventuring during daylight hours. Avoid overcrowded and empty areas. Never carry valuables and watch out for pickpockets. Do not leave your bags outside of religious sites “out of respect” they will be gone when you return.

Nadi is one my favourite destinations. The weather is wonderful, the people are friendly, and there are so many things to see and do. It is safe and lacks the crazy hustle and bustle of many tourist destinations.
