"Room was great, bathroom was a little dated and small but very functional. Both the single mattresses that made up our king were dated as they were dipped down centre, so you were compelled to be positioned in the dip of each. This wasn't perfect as you rolled back to centre after any effort to reposition yourself. Road noise was minimal into the night, curtains were very good at blocking out light and glazing blocked out noise of other guest returning late outside. Balcony was worthwhile too, looking out to the park square. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was a little disappointing, hot food was greasy and fatty/oily. Restaurant team was unwelcoming and rude. May be training was the issue here or it was just one individual who we had the misfortune of dealing with. I would skip breakfast and get something in town next time. Overall, the room was great value and comfortable enough. Time to change mattresses though please, as this would have made our stay awesome."

"Thank you to the entire team at Christchurch City Hotel and helping to make our first trip to Christchurch a lovely stay. The room was lovely with an amazing view of the square, streets and surrounding buildings. The reception staff were wonderful and so friendly. The house keeping staff were lovely, super polite and kept our room at a high standard. We appreciated the brief chats at the front desk and considered you are all ambassadors to your hotel and indeed the Christchurch CBD. Everything you needed was a short walking distance. My husband spent a fair amount of time in the room and said he wished there was a comfortable lounge seat to relax in. The seating wasn’t comfy and the only alternative was the bed which wasn’t comfortable to sit on for long periods of time. The only grumble we had was our experience in the bar on our first night. The Asian barman was rude and really pretentious. My husband informed him we weren’t dining and he was handed a food menu with the drinks menu’s. My husband politely repeated we weren’t dining and the barman retorted “I know” and took the menu back. When we ordered drinks he brought them back and said “I hope I got that right” and my husband replied “so do I”. It was an uncomfortable exchange and I was super proud that my husband maintained his composure because I can assure you he was fuming. We left after finishing our drink. Not a great start to our stay but thankfully the rest of the staff were amazing. Thank you again guys."

"The apartment is well located in the city center. Being our first welcoming stay for our first NZ trip, we received a fabulous experience by the friendly and helpful staffs, the staying condition is pleasant, and the amenities suite our needs very well. I would say, this apartment will be our first choice when we visit Christchurch anytime in the future."

"A surprisingly wonderful stay! Just needed a place to stay for the night at Christchurch and Commodore exceeded my expectations. Staff was very helpful and got a surprise upgraded room. Room was nice, clean, and spacious. Unfortunately did not get a chance to check out the amenities. Would highly recommend staying here!"

"Great hotel in central Christchurch. Everything was in easy walking distance, hotel itself was well presented and comfortable and staff were really helpful and friendly."
