"Onsen was nice, room was large/well maintained, and the buffet style food was surprisingly good.
The exterior around the property needs some work, but once you’re inside you couldn’t care less."
"The location is incredible for accessing most sightseeing places within a 20 minute walk from the hotel lobby. The cafe on site also makes really good coffee, and the staff was incredibly kind. We didn't get the breakfast, mostly because we don't eat early in the morning, but smelling it coming off the elevator we regretted that decision!"
"Very close to the station and easy access to the bus station. It’s also easily walkable to the downtown and stores. Room is clean, and it has a washer and dryer. I just hoped the rooms connected to each other or could accommodate more than 2 people per room since there’s plenty of space in the bed. This way we won’t feel so disconnected and distant to our kids traveling with us."
"A large and very well featured Ryokan (traditional inn) style hotel near the historic village of Shirakawa Go.
Very helpful staff, I appreciated the bus from Shirakawa Go bus station to the hotel. Without your bags (or perhaps with), it’s walkable in about 25 minutes. Additionally if you request it, you can get the bus back at 08:30 which got me onto the onward early bus to Kanazawa at 08:50 which was much appreciated.
The hotel has separated male/female onsen as well as two private onsen you could share with your partner, if you wish.
Familiarise yourself with both ryokan and onsen customs if you haven’t done either before! Take your shoes off at the door and don’t let them touch the elevated surface.
There is a small grocery store about 25 mins walk away but also one in the service station up the hill near the hotel.
The only thing I didn’t like was that the air conditioning was set to default to lower limit to 22 degrees, meaning if you set it to 20 for sleep it would change back to 22 instantly, meaning I was waking up in heat. An air conditioning system that is set too high like this, cannot be properly used in summer. Everything else was fantastic."
"I had a wonderful experience staying at the Chisun Grand Takayama. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was outstanding. The staff went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable visit, providing warm welcomes and helpful recommendations for exploring the local area.
* **Prime Location:** It is incredibly convenient, located just a short walk from the station, making it an ideal base for sightseeing around Takayama's historic districts.
* **Modern & Clean Rooms:** The accommodations are impeccably clean, well-designed, and offer great comfort after a long day of walking.
* **Fantastic Amenities:** The facilities are well-maintained, and the overall atmosphere feels both relaxing and premium.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area and would absolutely stay here again!"
