"What a fantastic stay we had. We came for the food (top notch restaurant) but fell in love with the town too. The hotel is brilliantly situated and also has an excellent cafe concession in town. Try the truffle scattered scrambled eggs. At the hotel, we had a 7 course dinner of dreams. Staff couldn't have been nicer. There is a lovely spa area in the basement too."

It is a rather large place to stay for just two people as it does have 5 bedrooms and a rather large living area, but we were very happy with it. "Very nicely restored palazzo, with an interesting mix of new and well preserved old facilities. Our room was large and comfortable. The bath tub/shower was high and a bit difficult to get in and out of—badly needs a grab bar for safe access. Breakfast was ample and diverse enough to accommodate all tastes. Staff very accommodating. Narrow streets, many of which were further limited by ongoing construction projects, made parking virtually impossible and each time we took the car for visits to the surrounding areas, it became an adventure in navigation. The hotel valet parked the car and returned it when requested. That worked well—all our explorations in the ancient city itself were on foot. The early June weather was perfect—but would not have been nice in the rain. All in all, a great central location, excellent staff, nice room. Make sure you rent a small car! With GPS!"
