Standing near to the main farmhouse, Le Séchoir is a detached cottage which has two terraces and a private garden. The south facing upper terrace (5.4m x 2.5m) opens onto the garden and has a table and chairs and a barbecue. Stairs lead down to larger terrace which enjoys views down the valley. The living room Although it appears small from the outside, on the inside it is anything but small. The Living and dining room is over 8 meters long and has French windows with views to the south and west. There is a flat screen TV and UK free-view television channels, a CD Player and Ipod docking station. There is wifi internet access and the whole of the house benefits from oil-fired central heating. The kitchen The Kitchen, which is directly off the dining area, is equipped to a very high standard, with a built-in electric oven and gas hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave, toaster etc... The kitchen does have a low ceiling at one end, but there is reasonable headroom in the main food preparation areas. The bedroom & bathroom The bedroom is directly off the living room. It has a King size bed which can be converted to two singles on request (thank you to inform us 48h before your arrival); there is also a wardrobe, chest of drawers, dressing table and chair. The Bathroom has a full sized bath plus a large walk in shower, in addition to the sink, bidet and toilet there is a large heated towel-rail/radiator, and a washing machine. The standard of facilities and layout of the Gite were well presented with the terrace providing a nice private dining area. The pool is shared with the other Gite on site but most of the time we had the pool to ourselves. The tranquil pool setting has a peaceful view down the fields where you can watch the owners horses at play. Christine and Gerard were lovely hosts and really made our stay welcoming. The huge garden, the great pool, the beautiful surroundings. And the silence. It was absolutely quiet, with the sounds of birds, trees and the horses. The dog Zoe, was adorable. Quiet, happy to play with but by no means irritating or noisy. The hosts are great and welcoming, thank you Gerard and Christine! The house is only two kilometers from the lovely village of Issigeac. We had breakfast and a coffee every morning over there at the small terrace of Bar l’Europe, next to the church (bring your own croissants). Er ligt een mooi zwembad exclusief voor de huurders van de twee woningen. Le Séchoir is zeer goed uitgerust en tot in de puntjes verzorgd. De eigenaars Christine en Gerard zijn super lieve, hartelijke en behulpzame mensen. Issigeac is een tof stadje met een paar goede restaurants. Dit verblijf is uniek om met twee van te genieten (minder geschikt voor kleine kinderen). De eigenaars richten zich inderdaad op koppels, minder op gezinnen met kinderen. Jul 8, 2016 #### Our sixth stay at La Barrat This was our sixth stay at La Barrat and the new owners Gerard and Christine continue to improve the standard of the accommodation . They are great hosts assisting in booking the local restaurants and general advice. The setting is quiet and ideal for walking, and cycling or just sitting by the lovely pool. We enjoy bird watching and the area is home to a wide range of interesting species including golden Orioles , Hoopoes and Black Kites. There are now a number of walks marked out by the local tourist office which take you through the vineyards and countryside. We have already booked for 2017 ##### John C. May 15, 2015 #### un petit coin de paradis Nous venons de passer une superbe semaine de vacances à la barrat. Le gîte est joli,spacieux,fonctionnel et très bien équipé dans un très beau cadre. Il est idéalement situé pour découvrir la région, à proximité de jolies bastides (montpazier,montflanquin,villereal,...) et à moins de 2 km d'issigeac, joli village moyenâgeux avec un marché très bien achalandé et toutes les boutiques nécessaires pour les courses. Nous avons également visité châteaux et dégusté du bon vin dans les caves alentours et du bon foie gras dans la ferme voisine.nous nous sommes également régalés au restaurant l"ancienne gare". Merci à Christine et Gérard pour nous avoir aidés à découvrir cette magnifique région et surtout pour leur accueil et leur gentillesse. Il y a tant de choses à faire et à voir que ce fût trop court !
