"Very clean room.Lovely pool. The hotel is out of the way near the river. We loved the tranquil setting. Apart from our safari trip (which was arranged by the owner) we didn’t leave the hotel, which suited us because the food provided at the hotel is delicious. The only negative thing I would say is they could do with upgrading the recliners by the pool. "

"The welcome at the Sihilro Regency is second to none. We felt almost like family. The home cooked food offered is really fantastic, exceeding the standard in most of the hotels we stayed in. Arriving over the new year weekend, we were slightly concerned that onward travel would be difficult but they helped us find a taxi at a very reasonable price. We also used their in house Safari and the driver / guide was brilliant. Highly recommended."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Modarawana?
The best area to stay in Modarawana is right within the village itself, particularly along the main road that runs through it.

This central location offers easy access to the local tea plantations and the nearby Modarawana waterfall, which is a popular spot for visitors. The village is small and easily navigable, with guesthouses and homestays often situated close to the paddy fields, providing a pleasant outlook.

Couples looking for a tranquil escape will find Modarawana ideal. The pace of life here is slow, superb for enjoying nature walks, visiting tea factories, and experiencing local culture away from busier tourist hubs. The focus is on relaxation and appreciating the natural surroundings.

For those interested in a deeper cultural experience, staying with a local family in a homestay provides a unique insight into village life.
When is the best time to go to Modarawana?
The best time to visit Modarawana is during the dry season, which runs from December to March.

During these months, you'll experience consistently warm and sunny weather, making it ideal for exploring the region's natural beauty and engaging in outdoor activities. The rainfall is minimal, ensuring clear skies for sightseeing and comfortable conditions for trekking or wildlife spotting. This period is particularly good for those looking to enjoy the area's scenery without interruption from heavy downpours.

Another good time to visit is from June to September. While this period sees slightly higher humidity and occasional afternoon showers, it's generally still pleasant for travel. The landscape is lush and green after the earlier rains, which can be very appealing for nature enthusiasts and photographers.
