The best area to stay in Mocoa is generally in the town centre, particularly around the main square, Parque General Santander.

This central area is the heart of Mocoa, offering easy access to amenities and local life. You'll find a concentration of hotels, restaurants, and shops within walking distance, making it convenient for exploring. The Parque General Santander itself is a pleasant spot for a stroll, with the Cathedral Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes nearby. The streets surrounding the square, such as Carrera 7 and Calle 9, are where most of the activity is.

For couples looking for convenience and local flavour, staying in the town centre is ideal. It provides a comfortable base to experience Mocoa's everyday life, with plenty of options for dining out and discovering local crafts. Many of the tour operators for excursions to nearby natural attractions also have offices in this area, simplifying planning.

Solo travellers will also find the town centre to be a practical choice. With everything close by, it's easy to navigate and connect with other travellers or local guides for jungle treks and waterfall visits.

The best time to go to Mocoa is during the dry season, which generally runs from June to September and again from December to February.

During these months, you'll experience less rainfall, making it much easier to enjoy Mocoa's main attractions, especially the natural wonders. The trails to waterfalls and natural pools will be more accessible and less slippery, and the rivers will be clearer for swimming. This is ideal for those looking to explore the natural beauty of the region without the disruption of heavy rain.

For travellers looking for outdoor activities like hiking to the Fin del Mundo waterfalls or exploring the Mandiyaco Canyon, the dry season offers the most comfortable conditions.
