The person who checked us in was personable. The rooms were somewhat clean and beds were comfortable, but we were not told in advance about the renovation taking place which made it hard for our youngest traveler to rest when she was needing to lay down. I mainly booked this hotel because of the breakfast available and the pool. The kids in our group were super excited to swim! As we entered the pool area we were hit with an EXTREMELY overpowering smell of chemicals that immediately burned our eyes and made it difficult to breathe. We could NOT be in there for more than just a few minutes - breathing such a high amount of chemicals is not safe at all. Another guest who was NOT with our party asked the front desk person why it was so awful and she said it was normal. Absolutely NOT normal! I can see why this place had a very low rating - we could not enjoy time in the pool, and the junk food we were offered for "breakfast" in the morning was not something most people should eat. Even if we had wanted to eat it, the limited stock put out once or twice didnt last long and we didnt get any of it at all. I know we were trying to save money because we needed multiple rooms, but construction should have been disclosed and unsafe pool chemical conditions should NEVER be acceptable!
