With a slogan of “fine, folk, and funky”, this place embodies Appalachian art and culture-- down to the very building it stands in. When Micaville was a mining town, this building was the general store. Through the years, the “Robinson General Merchandise” sign and painted windows have remained mostly untouched, which provides a unique and rare frame of this location through time. This is the local barbershop, which is still operating by the way. I was shooting the picture to capture the beauty of the rainbow; however, what really caught my attention was the contrast within the image.
