I was there to run the St. Jude's marathon and when I went to check in, I was informed there were no available rooms because the US government had rented all the rooms. This is absolutely FINE and understandable. However, to be told this after driving six hours before I'm to run 26.2 miles for a charity was just completely inconsiderate and poorly handled. An email, in-app message, or call should've been given to anyone affected. I had already paid in full and then had to request the refund through Expedia where they had to verify my claim and told me it could take a number of days to see the refund. I have no idea what, exactly, if I didn't have the disposable income to find another room at one of the most expensive times of year in the city. I'm truly disappointed and often question why I bother with Expedia at all (solely than that I've now been using it for over 15 years).
