Do not book this hotel.
The room was dirty and not cleaned,I trod on a 2" pin/needle left in the carpet, fortunately it did not go into my foot. The window had a 1 1/2" gape on the top and bottom witch looked dangerous. I gave the pin/needle to the reception and a supervisor came to our room to investigate. He showed me another room but the condition was the same dirty and the window in the same condition. We asked to speak to the manager as nobody seemed to care, we were told that he would be with us in10 minutes but he never arrived. Later the receptionist informed us that the manager had gone home, that is how much they care about the hotel and the people who stay there. If the management don't care how can the staff be expected to do a good job if they are not trained and the managers do not care.

It is a great hotel! I could not believe the size of the room and the cleanliness of the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I will stay there again if my path leads me to Medan.

Central location
I can walk at 10 minutes from the station where you arrive at the airport. There is a famous tourist attraction around the hotel. Tjong A Fie Mansion,Masjid raya, Istana Maimoon.

It was one of my most horrific experience.
My first I had cockroach and ants in the bathroom. They changed my room, and was water on the bathroom floor.My phone barely worked. The wifi didn't work. I do e-commerce therefore I can't work without internet. I reported to the reception, they hotel is full. My friend and his wife had separate room and because of all the carpet dust his wife asthma got worse. The breakfast buffet was mediocre at the best. I booked for 6 nights and to leave on my 3rd day. My friend and his wife had to leave on the 2nd day because the wife had to be treated for her asthma. I would advise everyone to stay away from this hotel.

Bad shower facility. Inferior breakfast quality!!
The bathroom should be refurbished. The breakfast quality should reflect a 4 star hotel and not a 2 star!!! I have been staying in this hotel since year 2000. I am surprise not much has changed.

Central hotel
I would only recommend this hotel if you are a smoker. I was moved to the non smoking floor on level 10 but somehow there remains a background level of nicotine. This is particularly obvious in the large breakfast area, where the non smoking section is within the same room but you have to walk through the smokers to reach the buffet. Sun Plaza is only a short sidecar taxi ride away, as is the grand mosque and royal palace.

Once a truly grand hotel. The foyer is stunning. But now it is falling into decline. No-one seems to worry about the Non Smoking signs - the staff do not enforce them. Even on Non-smoking floors there were men sitting around smoking. Some of the staff speak a little English but I was never sure they understood me (maybe that's my fault for not learning some Indonesian). Room service is shocking - I waited 20 minutes for a glass. If large groups of people are staying there (as was the case during my 2 weeks there) then the lifts are unable to cope. I recommended a lift marshall but that was merely smiled at. The laundry service is good.

We booked this hotel based on its good reviews. Firstly the gentleman that showed us to our room was lovely and showed us how everything worked. The room itself was mediocare; semi comfortable bed but very outdated. The bathroom that we had was covered in mould mostly all over the ceiling and we had ants in there too. We ordered room service as we were exhausted and sick and what we got was basically inedible; we ordered beef burgers and chips and everything was cold on delivery and the meet very rare (I'd say raw). As a side note; of three lifts here only one seemed to be working and it stopped on every single floor on the way up and on the way down. So don't be in a hurry and rely on the lift as it took us a good 5-10 minutes to get up and down each time (waiting for the lift and then waiting for another one with room in it).

Im have buy some local food, but after cleaner clean the room my food has been open it. As im know if we need to request to clean up the room can put the tag at room outside request. Izzit not put yet is wont clean it? Why the staff clean it? And clean time is too early? Is Medan time 11am? Breakfast also not clean.

we stayed only one night, the elevator is too small and old. I saw few ants on my bed and filthy pillows but when I mention it to front desk he agreed to give me new pillows. I was glad and thankful for it. Overall this hotel is very old and not deserved to be rated as 4 star hotel. Breakfast was very good, lots of choices or variety but coffee was taste bad.

The stay is good, but the hotel need refurbishment, the rooms are a bit too old, the Accessories in the bath room is getting old, the towels are very old unlike our stay before where the towels are thick and good. No hand towel provided, The toilets need proper cleaning. The TV is very old and the air conditioning unit need services. The hotel lobby is the most uncomfortable area to spend our time. It is dark and a lot of mosquitos. The breakfast set are the same since my first stay. But, The hotels staff are very friendly and helpful.As a frequent traveller and a regular guest to this hotel, this is my very sincere opinions. Looking forward to stay again in Soechi International Hotel with new facelift, new lobby, new interior outlook and outstanding rooms decoration.

Quiet room in the Non Smoking floor
Hotel price was great. Room in the Non Smoking floor was clean and quiet. Bathroom was American standard with nice hot water and shower/bathtub. Lobby was loud with live band at night and full of smoke from people smoking. Breakfast was great, many choice of food, wish they do not allow smoking inside the eating area. Location might be in the business area, a little run down looking area. Will come back as long as the price is still right.

Plenty choice of the breakfast and the food is nice. The rooms were of good size and the beds were amazingly comfortable. It's a perfect stay in Medan. Unfortunately, the internet connection is very bad. Always disconnected.

A nice centrally located hotel.
The hotel is located on a busy street but traffic noise was not heard in our room on the 8th floor. Views over city to distant mountain range and volcanoes available from bedroom. Room clean and well furnished and serviced every day. A good selection was available for breakfast in the restaurant. The hotel facilities, such as bar, gym and swimming pool were also quite good.

Not worth the stay
We stayed here twice within a week as we were heading to Sumatra. The first night was decent, our room was clean a sleeping staff helpful. It served it's purpose as a place to stay. It's an hour from the airport due to heavy traffic. Our second time was less desirable- our room wasn't clean. It clearly wasn't vacuumed as there was sunflower seeds on the ground, the washroom was full of long dark hair, the toilet was not clearly from whomever stayed pervious. I would only stay here if there wasn't another option.

Recomended for new customer to stay at the hotel
Quite an enjoyable trip where the hotel picks up its customer on arrival at airport.The whole trip to the hotel is free & takes about an hour. Service provided is excellent. Will stay in this hotel again when i make my next trip to Medan. Further to this,the rate per nite is rather cheap.

Found hotel staff unhelpful - only suggested hotel restaurants and didn't mention nearby food stores when we asked about dinner options; did not mentioned free airport transfer when we asked about taxi to the train station (to go to the airport). Hotel breakfast was average. Also, we requested for a non-smoking room and was informed upon arrival that they didn't have any left. Conclusion is - rack rates are crazy expensive (USD160?) - if you get a good deal (like < USD50), the hotel room is very comfortable for a night's stay.

True disappointment of stay at Soechi Medan
true disappointment. Had wedding ceremony in the hotel and the wedding car ended up stucked in the basement due to the riot by the hotel's workers. Nothing was done by management to help in that chaotic moment. Such an important day in my life end up in such an unhappiest day as I chose to stay at this hotel. This would be my first and last visit to the hotel. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Enjoyable hotel with good rooms and facilities
Me and my family stayed for 3 days at Soechi and we enjoyed the room, the facilities (swimming pools, whirlpool, aerobic class every morning and afternoon - my wife likes it). We like the room as it have bathtub, cable tv, and quite large room. We also like the free shuttle to airport. The location is also strategic as it is located near Jalan Selatpanjang and Semarang with so many choices of Chinese food on night. There is also traffic on the afternoon but we have considered this situation before. A little disappointment is only coming from lift availability on Saturday when we stayed as there was a wedding ceremony and only one lift available as other lift is booked. One lift is disfunctioned on those three days.

It was a pleasant stay.No worries for food and convenient shop within the hotel. The room lighting was dull but maintenance are offering to change the bulb to a brighter type. Aircond seems to be a slow blower. It take some time for you to have a comfortable atmosphere.Plus point for overseas traveler.Hourly free shuttle service are provided to the airport.

I would not stay anywhere else in Medan
I had low expectations about this hotel having read various reviews and with the price being so low compared to other 3/4 star hotels. I was overwhelmed to find that everything was just great and I had received such amazing value for money. How someone could describe this hotel as being for backpackers is just ridiculous - what planet does he normally travel on I wonder !!! This is a great hotel. Service could be better eg staff should explain the buffet breakfast layout including help yourself over there to tea and coffee and tell you you can sit where you wish rather than just take your voucher and then ignore you and when I went to get my welcome drink I had to go to the counter as once again the staff were not taking notice of guests that had sat down in the area.
