Upon arrival the check-in was extremely slow. Since we booked through Expedia we were not treated as regular guest who book directly thru Sandals and yet we paid alot for our stay at Sandals Royal. We were not given the room I paid for. Which was a hideaway lagoon room away from pool view at the Royals side. Some of the restaurants the food was not what is expected from Sandals. The beach was very rough and not safe. We couldn’t do any of the water activities that were included. Overall not a great all inclusive experience. I will never stay at Sandals again anywhere else. Our experience at the Sandals in Jamaica was much better. Spend ur money somewhere else!!!

We had a wonderful time at Royal Sandals. The staff were friendly and so accommodating. The rooms were clean and on the club level the rooms are updated. The food was ok there is room for improvement in some of the restaurants. The pizza was good just wish they would have that station reopen for late night snacks. The resort grounds were beautifully managed, the only downside was they didn’t clean the beach area. It was full of sargassum. But other then that it is a beautiful resort

This was my first and last experience with Sandals. I've been to a few all inclusives and this one does not compare, unfortunately. It was not immersive to the culture. We could've stayed anywhere and not know we were in Barbados. Music on the property was country music. I can get that at home. Hours are limited, such as room service whereas all inclusives are usually 24/7 service. Service was also very very slooooow. Food was of good quality, but drinks were not well made and though they were friendly, you can tell the staff was unwilling and again, very slow. We knew once we sat down, it would be an hour before we got our food. There was no going the extra mile. Pastries were also very stale and not good. Property needs updating and for paying so much, inclusions should be more readily available. Seemed like a waste of money. Also, property is nothing like the pictures at all.

The accommodations were fantastic. Very clean, comfortable large size rooms. Staff were great everywhere throughout the resort. Loved the variety of restaurants and the food was so good. There was an unique signature cocktail at each restaurant at night which was very good too. Nightly entertainment gave us something to do to end the day. The onsite bowling lanes were fun too. Very happy we chose Royal Barbados.

Typically we do not frequent an all inclusive resort as we are not volume consumers of food or alcohol. There were some high notes here. The French restaurant and the steakhouse were good with some drinkable wines.

We were put in quarintine for the first 3 days.Only because my husband decided not to have his body injected with a test cure for covid. We were not put in the room that we paid for. We were to have ocean/ pool view. We had a view of a hut. That's it. We had to order all food in and on most part it showed up very cold or very dried up. One day it was 9 hours before food even showed up. It was like we were being punshied for spending thousands of our hard earned money. What hurt most was have tracking devices put on us. We felt like criminals. We finally got moved to a ocean/ pool view on the night before we had to leave only because our air conditioner burn up in our room. They were going to charge us for that until I said I did'nt break the air conditioner. All in all we were very unsatified with the whole ordeal. The couples we brought with us weren't to happy about this either. This was our second trip to this resort. We bragged it up pretty good before we got there.

Don’t hesitate - just book!
We had a fantastic stay at Sandals Royal Barbados - can’t understand a lot of the negative reviews. I was a little hesitant to book after reading Hotels.com reviews but didn’t need to worry! We got all of the restaurant reservations we wanted throughout the week as we were not overly fussy about what time we ate. Wait times for food on the whole were perfectly acceptable. Longest we waited was 45 mins between starter & main but we were on a relaxing all inclusive holiday so why rush the meal!? We used the bowling alley at least 3 times which was great fun. Only slight grumble would be the sun bed situation as you need to be down early to get a decent position but what resort doesn’t have this challenge right? We always got a bed & moved to better beds if people left early afternoon. Would definitely recommend for an all inclusive couples resort

Incredible, beautiful, amazing
First things first. Yes, there were delays, the hotel was running low staff and lots of new staff following Covid closures. I absolutely would not judge the place based on that. THEREFORE! Beautiful site, lovely rooms, staff were so amazingly friendly really such incredible people. Choice of restaurants was awesome. The pools lovely and clean. Lack of pool towels due to moron guests taking them to their rooms to hog sun loungers from 6a.m then not using them - not the fault of the staff. We took the hotel excursion to go snorkeling, absolute class. Swam with turtles, saw shipwrecks, very informative all in great boat crew. Over all, really, really great place - if the world wasn't so big I'd go back in a heartbeat. 10/10 from me.

Horrible service with great amenities
Service was truly the worst I've had. Room service took over an hour (they said it should take 30-40 min) and didn't show up a couple times. They "forgot" to clean our room for 3 days straight, despite calling them everyday 2x. But the resort itself is very nice, with a lot of pools, restaurants, and different activities.

They are trying to double charge us for activities that we had prepaid before and during our trip and charged us a second time for photos. Over $400 of charges they have double dipped on. Do not prepay for the candlelight dinner! They tried to charge us again for it and it took us over an hour in the front desk to fix it (we almost missed our plane). They charged us $72 for 3 photos that we had already paid $54 for (they said they accidentally charged more and said they would fix it then charged me the $54, and now both are being charged on my card). The resort is beautiful and most of the food and staff are kind. The experience there was great, but the last day there and the fraudulent charges after left a bad taste and discouraged us from returning. We tried to communicate with staff and were lied to. I don’t see us trying other sandals resorts or recommending it to others.

Absolutely loved this resort. This was our first Sandals experience, and couldn't have been more blown away. When I was searching for resorts in the Carribean, I was looking primarily for good food at a couples-only, so I went with this based on reviews. And I picked right because this was the best food I've ever had at an all-inclusive. Sushi restaurant sashimi after a day at the beach was the perfect pregame for dinner at an excellent steakhouse. All of the staff have been friendly and genuinely caring about our stay at the resort. I've never been anywhere in my life where I was surrounded by so many people who wanted me to be having the best day possible every day. We didnt start taking notes until the last two days, but a few honorable staff mentions: - Marc and Dwayne the photographers. Went above and beyond to get great shots. One of them actually went to the rooftop restaurant nearby just to get an aerial shot of us playing chess. - Darren - Manager of a few restaurants. He was our waiter the first night and was very personable, I felt that he was able to shed the formality in his conversation which made him seem very relaxed - Camiliah - waitress at Schooners- helped make our last meal special before leaving. -The Manager at the Indian restaurant- we didn't get his name but he clearly cared alot about our dining experience and came to check on us a few times. We normally arent huge fans of Indian food but gave it a try and this was outstanding! Felt very at home

Fun pool atmosphere
The pool party atmosphere makes this place really fun. DJ Sy and Medium Shaq truly made our trip memorable, playing my favourite soca songs and dancing with me! There is a quiet pool as well for those that want to read a book. Don't worry! Some of the restaurants are excellent (Bombai) while others are not so good (Le Parisiene for dinner was awful but breakfast there is excellent) but overall the food was better than I thought I was going to find in an all-inclusive. The jerk pork was great from the Jamaican shack but the jerk chicken was dry and not very good. The check-in experience was bad as we waited hours for our room to be ready but we got a few treats from the manager to make up for that. My advice to management is to try to make this place more authentic and play more local music such as calypso or soca. Introduce tourists to your wonderful happy music. One of the other DJs played YMCA every night (no bueno!) and other songs that mostly older people enjoy (Abba). It's fine to have a retro night once a week but I'm 35 not 60 years old so I rather listen and party to the latest music.

The property was gorgeous and very modern. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Butler service was a great addition to our experience. The only criticism I have are that the bar would run out of straws early on in the afternoon and beach towels could be difficult to find if you arrived at the pool or beach after 10am.

Great staff, very well maintained, stunning beach, pools and grounds. Food at most restaurants was also extremely good especially at Butch’s Chophouse and La Parisienne. Kimonos and Chi were also pretty good. We would thoroughly recommend and will definitely be back next time we are in Barbados. Things that could be improved: 1. Check in process was slow notwithstanding booking Club Sandals and having used their online check in to speed things up. We waited about 2.5hrs to get our room - does help you can go and have a wander and grab lunch but after a long flight not ideal. 2. Clearing up room service trays left on the floor outside rooms. This was quite an unpleasant sight at times. Guests should be advised to leave trays in their rooms and not outside. 3. The nightly 9pm evening entertainment was lovely but only lasted an hour. Would be great if this was longer or something else was added to Lovers Lane.

We will NEVER Visit this chain again!! WORST Vacation EVER!! Very disappointing time trying to celebrate our 3 year Anniversary, my Husbands 50th birthday with 2 other couples celebrating their Anniversary and one other birthday. The rugs in our room at check-in were dirty, there was food on the carpet and the table and we requested another room. The carpets in the new room were still dirty but at least no food left behind. The pools were not clean, the hallways were dirty with trash littered on the stairs. The food in the restaurants were mediocre at best, and my husband got sick right after eating eggs/salmon at the Le Perigne rooftop restaurant for breakfast and spent the rest of the day lying down, sweating profusely, and having to use the restrooms multiple times. Several of the staff were rude throughout our 5 day stay at the pool restaurants, front desk, transportation, complaining, no smiles, and not welcoming at all. We made reservations for six at the "5 star" Chophouse, of which they confirmed with us earlier in the day, however when we got there for dinner at 9:00 they told us our reservation was only for 4, and 2 people in our party could sit by themselves if we wanted to be seated at 9:00. It was advertised as one of the newest resorts but looked run down and not well taken care of at all. NOT what we expected for a hotel that sells itself as a LUXURY 5 star resort. We will never spend our money at a Sandals again- Waste of a vacation!

Beach was the worst I ever been to.
Could not use beach. Water was brown from seaweed. Was told it's been going on for the last 5 years. Noone warned us about it. Free snorkling trip was booked. Was told it only goes out once a week. How do you only have one trip a week for hundreds of guest!!! Had to pay an outside company to go snokling. Got different answers from the staff. Got better information from other guests from their experiences. Will never go back again. Told them about our problems and all we got was sorry about that. They didn't ask how can we make it up to you. They just don't care. Had better times at place for 1/3 the price all included resorts. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
