This characterful hotel is well positioned in Matlock Bath and comes with a parking space! The host was friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast was amazing.

I can't praise this hotel highly enough. Fantastic building with built in caves that provide natural air con and make this building utterly unique. Lovely setting. Rooms and amenities are fab. The staff are incredible! Warm, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was amazing and the best in Matlock Bath hands down. Thank you for a brilliant stay. We'll definitely be booking again!

A big 'thank you ' to Donna, Chris and Beth for a lovely 4 night stay. Excellent hosts. Quirky venue with loads of charm. Parking onsite. Spotlessly clean. Bed and pillows extremely comfy. Excellent breakfast that kept us going all day. Perfect location for exploring the area. Can highly recommend.

Staff were welcoming, breakfast was great and parking conveniently just behind the hotel. The manager was very helpful when we had to leave early as we had a fault with our car door, and offered us a free night in the future! Only concern was the noise from motorbikes which gather on the main road for fish and chips. But the Deluxe room was wonderful, and spacious, and like stepping back in time with an array of antique furniture and fittings.

Ideal location in the heart of Matlock Bath. Staff were attentive and couldn't do enough for us. The hotel and our room were full of character with many period features. Breakfast was substantial and delicious. I would recommend this hotel.

Could not fault the staff very helpful , breakfast with very good . I appreciate the building is old but I do think the decor needs a bit of an upgrade. Parking was good but bit of a steep hill to get there. It was a bit noisy in the evenings but it goes quiet at around 10 . Considering the manager and staff has only been there a few weeks they are doing an amazing job.

Unfortunately I was disappointed at our stay in Matlock Bath. On arrival we could not get access to the place until a lady came from another building to let us in. Since the beginning of August we were told by visiting member of a team that there is no staff on sight and an email was sent in the morning to my home with a code to get access to the building and get a key for our room. No good when we needed to leave early as travelling from afar. This lovely old building in the perfect position in Matlock Bath is no longer a hotel so do not be fooled by the description. It is a building with rooms and a current manager and staff who appear at 8am serve a good breakfast between 8.30 & 9.30 and then leave. It would have been a great hotel at some point with great features, history etc but now it is sad and neglected. No Garden, no restaurant and no atmosphere. Our room was adequate but tied. The manager spoke to us when she visited and explained the owner' intentions as they saw it. Very sad, the other guests all looked and stated the same. Very disappointed.
