It isn’t in a hip neighborhood but it is smack in the middle of the center, less than 5 minutes away from Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Gran Via, etc. Most tourist sights are a stone throw away which make the hostel a perfect home base for a first visit to the city. The room and en-suite bathroom were very clean (above average for a hostel). There are some visible signs of humidity around the hostel but it doesn’t smell of mold or anything like that- I think they might have had an isolated flooding incident that they haven’t fully fixed from a cosmetic standpoint. The friendly staff was available 24/7\.
