Great hotel for trip to Funchal
Well located hotel that offers a great selection at breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful Our room was spacious with a balcony All major sites and beach are within walking distance Lots of nice bars and restaurants close by

Excellent
Lovely hotel, very impressed with the cleanliness and comfort and very good value for money. Hot shower, comfy beds and so clean and nice. The only draw back was very difficult to park (no parking at Hotel) and one very noisy breakfast member of staff slamming plates and cutlery eager to finish breakfast both mornings at service half an hour before the end of service. Made breakfast a bit uncomfortable. The rest was excellent and would definitely return. Lovely Hotel and lovely staff otherwise. Definitely worth a visit and look forward to returning.

Good value for money
Hotel location was excellent..staff was very nice... On the downside , there's construction happening right next to hotel so be prepared to hear noise starting at 8am. The reviews about the water temperature changes in the shower is still happening. The roof top terrace and location is what sold me on the room. Over all i would return and recommend it Breakfastbuffet has goodchoices.

Brilliant hotel
Stayed here on a weekend trip to Madeira. It is very centrally located just a few minutes walk to the main area of Funchal. Hotel was spotless, and breakfast was good. Exactly what i would expect from a 3 star hotel. We will stay here again.

Nice hotel in convenient location
We spent 2 nights here which we really enjoyed. Its close to the old town with its many great restaurants and bars. We ate breakfasts here and they were very nice. We also enjoyed a few drinks on the roof terrace.

The accommodation was ok, would be better if the lavatory was chipped and there is a construction site next to it, meaning it was noisy during the day, and the shower was below par. However, the staff is friendly, there’s a great view from the rooftop, and location is ideal.

Great location, terribly uncomfortable rooms.
Hotel was in a great location with an amazing rooftop sitting area and restaurant. And that’s where the good news ends. The room was abhorrently loud, we felt like we were sleeping in the middle of the road. You can hear the neighbors talking, sneezing, snoring, and the traffic all day and night. The beds were uncomfortable, the shower water went from cold to lava, back to cold again every 10 seconds. Overall an uncomfortable couple of days.

Not much lighting in room, very dim and dull. No tea coffee making fascilities. toilet seat needed replacing. Toilet stuck behind door. Crappy shower curtain around a small shower basin. No shower shelf for shampoos/soaps. €120 a night is too much. Would only want to pay half that for that quality of the room.

Situated well but was offered and accepted an upgrade on arrival. Paid much more expecting nicer room. It was slightly bigger but was not warned that it was below restaurant and roof top bar so basically noisy from 6am to late night. Cherry on the top was the night elevator broke down at 11pm. There was shouting from repairmen up and down the shaft with extremely loud banging past midnight. Couldn’t bear the discomfort anymore so called for manager. Was told he would be in soon. Waited 45 mins and went down. Was informed that manager was still not available.

The Hotel is very well located and very clean and staff very friendly and helpful. The only part of my trip which made me uneasy was the earthquake that occurred while staying there but this does not happen frequently and was informed it happened many years ago. The staff maintained calm and made you feel safe after it happened.

Hotel Orquidea is a nice 3-star-hotel, the room was nice, the breakfast was good, and the restaurant in the upper floor has a fantastic view of the mountains and the ocean. The staff are qualified and cleanliness is very good.

Fairly central position. Short walk to sea front.
On arrival, receptionist was confused. We had booked 2 rooms, he thought we had booked one. He said we could have 2 beds instead of one! I was travelling with my son! Eventually, I managed to make him see that we had 2 rooms. During our stay 5th to 12th November, the main water channel in the next road was being repaired. Major machinery noise, dust and busy traffic from early morning to late at night. Will carry on for a long while yet. Probably ok normally. My room had a very unpleasant smell. I requested investigation at reception, and it did improve somewhat. Ants in bathroom, but I managed to stamp on them. Got most of them. Otherwise good. Excellent breakfasts, and dinner if you wanted it. I would recommend waiting until the repair work in the next street has been completed.

Well worth money !
This hotel was very good and our stay was only marred by some abuse from the female supervisor in the dining room because of our inability to remember their opening hours !! We failed her test miserably !! Otherwise I would recommend this hotel.

Great Location
If you're looking to use the buses to get around the island, you need to be central, and this hotel is. Room pretty standard, breakfast excellent (and breakfast room is on 6th floor with great views). Friendly staff. Wireless Internet (free) is only in reception area, but was working consistently. Also the evening meals in the restaurant were fantastic value.

A Real Find
A lovely small hotel. It lacks a pool but the rooftop space is fine for lounging in the sun and viewing the town and harbour below. My single room was small but spotless and overall the service was personal and attentive. The 15 Euros dinner deal in the panoramic restaurant is a great extra. Remarkable value.

Good 3* Hotel in City Location
This hotel is not in the hotel area to the west of funchal, but is in the city centre. There is no pool or dedicated car park, but if you want a very convenient location for Funchal this is a very good choice. The restaurant does great value simple dinners. We would comer here again without hesitation.

very pleased . although without a pool (hence the 3 stars) the hotel had good roof top views and opportunities to relax in the sun. The buffet breakfast was good quality and the restaurant was calm and relaxed. Staff were on the ball and very helpful. The location was superb - easy access to the centre, all the sights and dining in the evening either in the old quarter (15 min) or near the cathedral (5min). we would go back there.

would not hesitate to go back
a very pleasant .conveniently situated hotel. our room was very comfortable and clean as was the rest of the hotel.stafff were helpful and the icing on the cake was the top floor restaurant.however the views from rooms may change when adjacent building work is finished..hope not ! we would not hesitate to go back.
