There is a pretty 45 minute walk through Kilminorth Woods beside the estuary to the lively town of Looe. Our 3rd stay at Alice's cottage was as good as the 1st. We love the rural location with all the wildlife and just a stones throw from the river. The quirkiness of the old cottage is fun with its slanty floor's and stairs. The kitchen is compact but with everything you need at hand. A wonderful peaceful retreat tucked away from the rest of the bustling world! We'll be back again soon!
A beautiful cottage in the forest. There is a river right next door and you can go on lovely walks towards Looe. The accommodation is very clean and has everything you need for a stay. We especially liked the kitchen. Communication with the owners was very good. They answered questions immediately. We would book the accommodation again.
We had a lovely week in Alice’s cottage. We decided to leave the car at home and travel to Cornwall by train, which was very easy and stress free. With the cottage being only 1.5miles along the estuary to Looe, we had easy access to transport links, coastal walks and pubs and restaurants. Alice’s cottage is cosy and very well equipped for a long stay. The beds were really comfy and little touches like having cooking oil, salt, pepper, herbs and tea bags was much appreciated, especially as we didn’t have a car to drive to the shop.
We had the absolute best time. The cottage is beautiful and in the most quiet, idyllic setting. A perfect break from busy lives. Lots of walks and cosy evenings by the far. We will certainly return ❤️
My wife and I needed a break from our home in south west London and this was idyllic. A delightful property in a gorgeous location a woodland walk away from Looe and we were blessed with good weather throughout. Loved it and wished we’d had more time here.

Hidden gem!
We have just returned from a lovely 2 weeks at Alice's Cottage. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped, set in a beautiful, peaceful part of Cornwall, near Looe. Enjoyed many an evening sat outside, appreciating the tranquil location, with a glass of bubbly!! Would definitely recommend the river walk from Alice's Cottage into Looe.
Thank you for a wonderful stay!
The prettiest little cottage and garden where we spent most evenings.
Perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.
The cottage was so cosy and comfy, everything you could require and more!
Owners lovely people with good knowledge of places to visit.
Thanks so much Keith and Dawn we had an absolutely amazing time. Xx
A cosy little cottage in a beautiful setting. It was exceptionally clean and well equipped and the cream tea on arrival was most welcome. It was an easy walk into Looe through the woods and we did that a few times. We often enjoyed a cuppa in the front garden after a day out or just wandered down to the river to soak up the tranquility. Despite lots of busy days, we came home feeling like we’d actually had a really relaxing week.
The stay at the cottage was a perfect location for the stay. Our only criticism was the cottage could do with a spruce up as some of the interior was tired looking from paint missing in the walls the bathroom sink cupboard needs replacing due to water damage, the rugs could do with a good clean. The cottage was quite dark and need the lights on. On a plus side the beds were really comfortable.

Pure bliss
We found Alice’s Cottage perfect for a relaxing holiday, it was set in idyllic surroundings, equipped with everything we required and had extremely comfy beds. Pure comfort and quality and impeccably clean throughout. We found it easy to visit many parts of Cornwall and had day trips to Minack Theatre, Land's End, St Ives, Padstow, Port Issac as well as beautiful Looe, Polperro and Talland Bay. Caretaker and owner contactable throughout week and very helpful and accommodating. The owners of the cottage have clearly gone above and beyond to make the cottage a fantastic place to stay. We would definitely return.
Enjoyable stay in a quirky cottage in a great location.
The cottage was big enough for the two of us and our Westie. The layout was odd with the kitchen being on another floor, but maybe we are "nit picking" and it probably had been mentioned in the property listing.
The owners supplied wood for the wood burning stove (this was a first for us) and was excellent for the cooler evenings.
The location was fantastic and the weather was brilliant.
We met the owners who were very friendly and nice people.
This was our first time in the Looe area of Cornwall, which we enjoyed, but thought that Looe itself, was "past it's sell by date" and we thought it was scruffy and looked "uncared" for.
Beautiful location next to the woods and river. The cottage was charming and very well equipped. Communication with the owners was excellent. Lovely welcoming touch to leave scones and clotted cream / jam for our arrival.
A perfect, cosy holiday cottage in the countryside by the river. Very comfy beds and well equipped kitchen. A great base to explore Cornwall. Highly recommended and look forward to returning.
A very pleasant week at the property. The cottage is delightful and very well furnished with lots of nice touches and the owners have thought of everything (eg bbq, fireplace, high speed internet and anything else you need etc). The location is stunning (right next to the West Looe River) and pleasantly secluded and quiet.
This is a very quaint little cottage in a beautiful setting of extreme tranquility. If you enjoy nature and kayaking/paddle boarding this property is literally a stones throw away from the estuary and it is fun to join others on the water in their adventures. There is a constant sound of a babbling brook which is very relaxing and the garden area seems private despite being on the front of the property. The cottage is well equipped and has everything that you need. Walking to Looe is easy and peaceful by following the estuary along and through a woodland. There is a beached area along the path at low tide which s excellent for spotting deer, foxes and water birds. This cottage is an wonderful retreat if you're looking to get away from absolutely everything. Lantic Bay is an absolute must and is the most beautiful place that we'd ever been to in this county. It's not for the faint hearted though as the roads are extremely narrow, but it would be on our must do list every time. It literally took our breath away with its yachts and crystal blue waters.
A lovely cottage in a beautiful, peaceful setting. Very clean and comfortable, with everything needed. A great place to explore the area from. Looking forward to a return visit. Many thanks.
We were so happy in this beautiful house which is set in the most gorgeous valley. Dawn and Keith could not have been kinder and the facilities at the house were superb. We couldn’t believe how well we slept and this was due to the wonderful bed and quality bedding. We were treated to the most wonderful scones, cream and jam on arrival and the kitchen is very well equipped if you wish to spend time here! We chose to explore the area and were extremely fortunate to have excellent weather. Alice’s Cottage is spotlessly clean and you couldn’t wish to have nicer people to deal with.
We had a brilliant stay at Alice's Cottage. The place was immaculate when we arrived and it made us feel very 'safe' in these Covid times. One of the best equipped cottages we have ever stayed in with really good quality bits and pieces. The bedding was wonderful and I had the best week's sleep in ages! The wood burner was cosy and lovely to have on in the evenings. The walk alongside the river to Looe is very pretty and well worth doing as it is right on the doorstep. We feel very lucky to have managed to fit this stay in just before lockdown was announced . Thanks for a wonderful stay.
This was our second stay at Alice’s cottage and although our first visit was four years ago it was just as good as the first!
Very clean and tidy in a wonderful setting just a few short steps from the river. Super quiet with the exception of the noisy owl late at night and the other birds during the day.
A huge thanks for the tasty treats left for our arrival they went down wonderfully well that evening in front of the roaring fire.
Overall Alice’s Cottage is a wonderful retreat from the everyday humdrum of modern life with its quirky stairs and sloping floors. It sits nestled in quiet and beautiful surroundings just a stones throw from a gorgeous Coastline.
We will be back and will most definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay in that area.
Thanks again to Dawn and Keith for another super holiday.
