Henllys Lodge is a most beautiful spacious and luxurious eco-friendly cottage set in rural Carmarthenshire, being a detached house with large lawned gardens and benefiting from views of the surrounding countryside, sleeping up to eight people. It has ground source heat pumps which provide the majority of the hot water and under floor heating throughout the property. With sheep’s wool insulation, it’s warm and cosy. Formerly a small lodge house, it has now been extensively re-built and re-designed with eco-friendly features throughout; the floors are made from local oak with under-floor heating and each room is tastefully decorated. The ground floor being open plan, has a large, matted lobby entrance where coats and boots can be stored and has the benefit of a large cloakroom with toilet. The large kitchen/dining room has all modern energy efficient A or A* rated appliances, such as a Rangemaster cooker with two ovens, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, granite work surfaces and all the cooking equipment and utensils you will need. Double French doors open out onto a Welsh slate patio area with garden furniture and barbecue. In an annexe there is a washing machine and condenser dryer. In the middle of the living room is a double-sided wood-burning stove which is cosy in the colder months. The 40" LED television has Freeview channels; there is a DVD player with a selection of DVD’s, a CD player with iPod dock, table football, a large selection of games and puzzles, books including guides of the area, and daylight lamps for reading. There is also good Wi-Fi internet access and a telephone for calls within UK.
There are four bedrooms: three double rooms, two of which have en-suite wet rooms, and a room with full-sized single bunk beds. There is a separate bathroom with bath and overhead shower. All bathrooms have heated towel rails. The beds have allergy-friendly mattresses and bedding. For those lovely summer evenings, after exploring the Welsh countryside, the large lawned garden offers flower beds planted with native plants flowering at different times of the year and a lawn leading down to a pond, teeming with wildlife including fish, frogs, newts, water lilies, etc. There is a double swing for younger guests. Fill up the bird feeder to watch all sorts of birds, including nuthatches, green finches, and woodpeckers. Red kites and buzzards soar overhead. There is private off-road parking for 3+ cars and a locked shed providing secure storage for bicycles etc.
