The best area to stay in Litomerice is the Old Town, which encompasses the historic centre within the city walls.
This neighbourhood is the heart of Litomerice, characterised by its well-preserved medieval architecture, colourful Renaissance and Baroque buildings, and a relaxed pace. The main hub is Mírové náměstí (Peace Square), a large, historic square featuring the Old Town Hall and the "Chalice House" with its distinctive red roof. Many of the city's best restaurants, cafes, and local shops are found on or just off this square and along the surrounding pedestrian streets.
Couples will find the Old Town particularly appealing for a romantic and cultural getaway. You can easily stroll hand-in-hand through the historic streets, discover hidden courtyards, and enjoy a quiet evening meal at one of the many establishments. The nearby St. Stephen's Cathedral and the Litomerice Castle are also within easy walking distance.
For solo travellers, the Old Town offers a comfortable and engaging base. Its compact size makes it very walkable for exploring independently, and there are numerous opportunities to discover local history and culture at your own pace.
