This was our first trip to Lewes and we didn’t get to spend time in the town but it looked very charming. We bought wonderful fresh bread and cold cuts and Lloyd’s market. The home provided enough space for me, my wife, both my in-laws, and my 3 children (ranging in age from 2.5 to 9.5 years old).The rental rate was affordable and very fair. The area is residential with commercial options a short bike ride away. The community is bike friendly and contains a number of trails that interconnect residential, commercial, and tourist areas. The beach is only a football field away from the house and can be accessed without crossing any busy roads. The beach itself is pleasant with soft sand and family-friendly water conditions. The shore is very shallow allowing my 2.5-year old to safely play in it.The interior of the home is dated with minimal modern stylings. It is an old family home with major sentimental value to its owner and various personal affects. The house has everything needed for a stay and more. Bikes and kayaks are included, but sized for a shorter family.My children shared a bedroom that was converted from an attic and stifling hot. Fortunately, the room had a dedicated air conditioner, but the space was still tight and uncomfortable. The rest of the house, including the other two bedrooms was comfortable. Furnishings are clean and neat, but old. Appliances are newer and provide for good amenities. The WiFi signal was strong throughout with fast internet access. The owner was very kind. It is ideal for waking up, rolling out of bed, and walking the maybe three hundred feet to the beach. It's also a fifteen/twenty minute walk to downtown Lewes, which has incredible food (some of the best I've ever had in a beach town). Any groceries you'll have to travel a bit farther so stock up. The house is old fashioned, which is part of its charm, but has plenty of space. The screen-enclosed lanai was a huge part of our enjoyment--would sit out back there with the dog for hours. The large living room was a great place to snuggle with our pup, read, and watch movies. The location of the house made it so as the weather cleared, we could quickly and easily access the beautiful beach. It was also a quick drive to Cape Henlopen - a place we love.If you are looking for a gentle escape from the world, John’s space is a great choice. ##### Kathleen M. We loved the location- literally STEPS from the beach. Our dogs loved going in the morning and after 630pm when dogs were allowed. Lots of fun games and activities at the house such as board games and floaties. We used the kayak at the beach too. There were plenty of towels, toilet paper, beach chairs, bikes etc. The house is a bit older but we already knew that and chose the house because of the location. We were able to walk to town a few times for King's ice cream and drive to the outlets for shopping.
