I was a solo traveller staying at the Villa Giulia for the first and best of five nights that I spent in the lake Como area in early October. The hotel location is quiet and very beautiful, even romantic, though some might find it a little difficult to access without a car. All staff were courteous and friendly and extremely helpful; my room was perfectly clean and well kept, but was perhaps a little utilitarian in its furnishings, though a pretty balcony with lots of foliage made up for this.
This hotel's strongest point is however its public rooms, particularly its splendid beautifully lit dining room, luxurious by any standards, and really amazing for what I take it is a relatively small hotel. Food was excellent, with a good choice and reasonably priced, and served with a laid-back elegance by a discretely helpful waiter. I like a bit of spoiling from time to time and this was right up my street -a luxury experience to get my holiday break off to a delightful start.
All in all, really great value for money.
