Beautiful location, not easy to find. Great views, lots of bugs.
If you are looking for a rustic retreat, this is it. The setting is beautiful and the views are far-reaching. The pool is an added bonus, surrounded by beautiful gardens.
Unfortunately, we were not provided a map or any sort of instruction on how to get to the cottage upon our arrival to the area. Every other apartment or cottage that we rented during our trip to Portugal provided either an address or a map. The owner offered to pick us up and guide us, but unfortunately her car broke down. If we had been provided with a map via VRBO, we would have been able to navigate the area ourselves. Maria was very apologetic and helpful to us in finding her property. Please be aware that the drive to the property is on very rough terrain, so if you are travelling with your own car or renting one, be careful of the undercarriage! Our cottage was in a very nice spot, overlooking the hills and the pool. We sat outside most nights and it was beautiful, but once we entered the cottage in the evenings, we were inundated with mosquitos and other bugs. Use the netting over the master bedroom bed that is provided. If you don't you will become a feast for the mosquitos, like I did. I was covered in bites after the first night, it really dampened the experience. I suppose if you are on vacation in the country bugs should be expected.
