Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Kurbitz?
The best area to stay in Kurbitz for most visitors is the historic Old Town, particularly around the Markt Square.

The Old Town is Kurbitz's focal point, characterised by its cobbled streets and beautifully preserved Renaissance and Baroque buildings. The Markt Square, with the historic Town Hall and the Kurbitz Cathedral nearby, is the heart of the district. You'll find a good selection of independent shops, traditional restaurants, and cafes within easy walking distance.

For couples looking for a romantic and comfortable stay, the Old Town is ideal. You'll appreciate the ability to stroll hand-in-hand to local eateries and enjoy the evening ambiance. Many hotels here offer views of historic architecture and are well-situated for exploring the town on foot.

Families will also find the Old Town convenient, especially if they prefer a central location with easy access to amenities. The pedestrian-friendly streets make it pleasant for walking with children, and several parks and smaller squares are within reach for a break from sightseeing.
When is the best time to go to Kurbitz?
The best time to visit Kurbitz is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months, when the weather is pleasant and the natural beauty of the region is at its peak.

Spring in Kurbitz brings mild temperatures, blooming gardens, and lush green landscapes. It's a wonderful time for outdoor activities like hiking and cycling along the Elbe River, or exploring the picturesque vineyards that blanket the hillsides. The Königstein Fortress is particularly enjoyable to visit during this season, with fewer crowds than in summer.

Autumn offers equally comfortable weather, accompanied by stunning autumnal colours. The vineyards are especially beautiful during the grape harvest season, and there are often local wine festivals where you can sample regional specialities. This season is ideal for those who appreciate scenic drives through the Saxon Switzerland National Park or a leisurely boat trip on the Elbe River, taking in the golden foliage.

While summer (July and August) is also popular, it can be quite warm and attract more tourists, especially to popular attractions.
