So, the appeal of visiting this ruined citadel, situated 3100 metres above sea level in the northern Peruvian mountains, is that you can wander around Kuélap in relative peace and quiet, save for maybe one or two other tour groups. Due to its elevation, the site also affords some stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. It's a 2-3 hour drive from Chachapoyas.
