WELCOME TO THE COUNTRY - LAKE FRONT PROPERTY - THE FOX DEN STUDIO

Lakefront apartment with kitchen and patio
WELCOME TO THE HUDSON VALLEY! Enjoy the sights & sounds of the country... all, from inside your cozy (totally private) Fox Den studio apartment. We provide all the comforts of home. Home baked cookies await your arrival. The Fox Den was designed with couples or a single in mind. Sorry, we cannot accommodate children or pets.

How about spending a romantic and cozy weekend in front of a warm fireplace, or perhaps to get lost in a good book on your private patio, overlooking the lake. You have found your perfect, private retreat, a place to relax and enjoy the quiet. We are on 20 acres of unspoiled woodlands, walking trails, pretty cottage gardens, as well as 275' of lake frontage.

We are on a private lake, motor boats are not permitted, allowing you to enjoy kayaking, paddle boating, fishing, or just floating around to your hearts content. (Boating season is May 1st - September 30th.) The rowboat will remain available after September. We have lounges by the lake, and a roomy hammock for two for swaying in the country air.
We have a pair of swans that visit every summer. Mallards, beavers, painted turtles, trout & small mouth bass, call this lake home. There are red fox, & deer (twin fawns are not that unusual). There are red tailed hawks & owls, beautiful north eastern birds and if you're lucky, you'll see an American bald eagle.

The Fox Den is decorated with our guests in mind, comfortable, with plenty of natural sunlight. A fully equipped kitchen with a full size oven & refrigerator. We also provide coffee, tea, cooking spices & oils.

A luxurious queen size bed with a lake view, and a private bath (towels are provided for both bath and lake). A pergola covered, private patio with a gas grill, overlooking wildflowers and path to the lake. Your privacy is paramount to us (we respect that you are here for some R&R).

If you want to drive about and see the countryside, there are many interesting destinations to discover, and most are close by. Antiquing, wineries, glorious estates, beautiful gardens, horseback riding, & delicious restaurants of all kinds. (The Culinary Institute is located in the heart of the Hudson Valley.) Bard college, the Richard B. Fisher Performing Arts Ctr., The Omega Institute, Opus 40, charming towns (such as Red Hook, Rhinebeck, Hudson, Tivoli, & Woodstock), farmers markets, seasonal orchards for picking your own fruit, & much more await your arrival.
We love it here, and know you will too.
Air-conditioned accommodations at this apartment offer fireplaces and coffee/tea makers. Rooms open to patios. Kitchens offer refrigerators, stovetops, microwaves, and cookware/dishes/utensils. Bathrooms include showers and hair dryers.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or nearby; fees may apply.

Idyllic Romantic Retreat
Though the pictures on VRBO are impressive they can't do justice to this lovingly crafted space, inside and out. It's completely charming and a wonderful place for a couple to unplug. Jeanne and Jim were wonderful hosts, who prize your privacy and comfort, while making it clear that you can contact them anytime should you need something. We were celebrating our 40th year together and wanted something just like what we found at The Fox Den.

5/5 Excellent

Wonderful place
This comfortable, well-designed studio apartment made for a beautiful two weeks in the country. Jeanne and Jim were wonderful hosts, always there to help when needed and never intruding. They went above and beyond to make my stay easy and enjoyable. The kitchen is fully equipped and very functional, and there’s a gas grill on the patio. I enjoyed cooking the food that I got at the local farmstands. The photos in the listing give a good idea of the place. Though it is a studio, it feels very spacious and the sleeping nook is cozy. I particularly appreciated the two sets of French doors opening onto the patio overlooking the lake, and the ceiling fans inside and out, which made the air conditioning unnecessary for me even in very hot weather. The property is well-shaded by mature trees. A lovely garden in front of the patio attracts butterflies, and the bird feeder and bird bath is visited by many birds. Best of all, the lake was perfect for swimming, once I made my way past the rocks that line the shallows. (I recommend wearing water shoes; they make it much easier to walk on the rocks). The water is clean and a pleasant mixture of warm and cool. Swimming was the highlight of every day I spent at the Fox Den.

5/5 Excellent

Fox den is a gem
The studio apartment is furnished with everything we needed. The deck and outdoor area were also nice. We did not get to enjoy the lake because it was unbearably hot the first few days, then rainy and cold for days 5-7! The worst weather of any vacation we ever had, but the place is perfect nonetheless!

5/5 Excellent

Home away from home
We had an amazing experience staying at the Fox Den. Jeanne and Jim were great hosts. Loved the attention to detail within the space. Plenty of wonderful places to visit nearby we never even used the lake but we’re happy for the view it provided daily! Lots of fun nature to see from flowers, birds, chipmunks etc. Definitely a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a week away!

5/5 Excellent

The perfect relaxing getaway
We could not be happier with our stay at the Fox Den. Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived. For check in you just walk right in the door. You don't have to worry about scheduling arrival times and waiting on somebody to meet you. The place is spotless and the attention to detail is amazing. You have absolutely everything you need. The Den and the entire property is beautiful and meticulously maintained. You have direct access to a private lake right out your door. You can go swimming, kayaking or just sit in the chairs and watch the wildlife. Have dinner on the outdoor patio while you watch the sunset. Enjoy a nice fire while stargazing and eating the fresh baked cookies the owner left for you. We cannot wait until our next stay!
