From black-diamond skislopes to après-ski beers and summer hikes, outdoor interests are accommodated year-round at this spectacular mountain peak.

Nestled in Vermont’s Green Mountains, Killington is the home of one of the biggest destination resorts in the eastern United States, Killington Ski Resort, affectionately known as “The Beast.” Discover fantastic downhill and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing adventures for all ability levels. In summer, explore the northern part of the spectacular Appalachian Trail by foot or bike or try your luck on the 18-hole golf course. Kayak in the still waters of Kent Pond, a 100-acre (40-hectare) man-made body of water.

Killington’s vast ski area, with opening dates most years from November to May, offers diverse adventures in the snow. Take the express gondola to Killington Peak and see stunning panoramic views stretching across Vermont to New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, New York and Canada. Ski or snowboard over 70 miles (110 kilometres) of trails connected by more than 20 lifts.

From the gently sloping beginners’ trails to the double-black-diamond mogul challenges, Killington serves the whole family. First-time skiers and advanced powder hunters will all learn new skills at the ski school. Ski scenic forested trails or get an adrenaline rush at the half-pipes and cross-terrain sections, featuring jumps, ramps and rails.

Take a break from your energetic snow adventure at a mountaintop café or restaurant. Kick off your ski boots at the end of the day in the Killington Ski Resort Village and relax at one of the many cozy bars.

Visit other times of the year too. Mountain bike or hike up or down the 4,241-foot (1,293-metre) peak. At the Killington Brewfest Weekend in October, sample from over 60 regional craft beers while blazing red, orange and gold leaves fall in the surrounding forests.

The nearest international airports are in Boston, Massachusetts and Burlington, Vermont. Regional flights fly into Rutland Airport 20 miles (33 kilometres) from Killington. Take an Amtrak express train from New York City to Rutland, with a connecting shuttle directly to Killington. Or simply drive your car in Vermont, all roads lead to “The Beast.”

Owner is extremely rude and un-professional. Rooms aren’t that great. I will never stay here again.

I wish you could walk more. If you want to drink and not drive, it's very hard to get around in this place.

this is my second year in a row that I take my spring break ski trip to Killington and enjoy skiing Pico mountain. Next year we will ski the "Beast in The East" Killington itself. :)

Restaurants are pretty ordinary and very pricey for what you get. I got a great deal on my hotel and skiing but when you eat out, you better fork out your wallet!
