12. Astir Rooms

Kefalonia

"Astir was literally across the street from the ocean. I did not have a full ocean view from my room, but I could see it from my balcony on the side of the building. It was a single room, so the bathroom was small, but the bed was comfortable. It was a lovely room for the price. The staff were very nice and friendly. There was a bar open in the afternoon/evening with a wonderful view of the ocean. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and I would stay here again. "

13. Nomāde Agora - Luxury Suites in Lixouri

Lixouri

"The apartment is in a very central position in Lixouri. Ideal for the square, the ferry and all that Lixouri has to offer. The apartment was clean when we arrived, was cleaned once during our stay - perfect for us. It is well refurbished and had all the amenities we needed and as described. We had good sleeps (apart from the church bells on Sunday morning but this is to be expected in any Greek town). Good bed and pillows. Excellent blinds to keep it dark. Very nice balcony for two people...

"This was a beautiful hotel and the location is excellent. The property is in the main central location close to Liroux port and above the central square. Everything in the unit was new and it was so clean and elegant. The shower was perfect and the layout of the unit was great. I wish we had more time spent in Liroux would definitely return to this location. I had a question to the host and got an immediate response. My son and I enjoyed staying here"

Top Karavomylos Hotel Reviews

Aenos Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"A wonderful stay at Aenos hotel. The bed was super comfortable with nice linens. The staff was exceptional - so helpful and friendly. From the front desk staff, to the breakfast staff and the cleaning crew...all of them amazing. Great location as it is in the center of the action (something to be aware of as sometimes there is music and noise at night). The breakfast buffet was superb! Great selection from yogurt, nuts, cereal, eggs and breakfast meats and some homemade sweets that were yummy. Overall it was a fantastic home-away-from-home stay!"

F ZEEN KEFALONIA - Adults Only

10/10 Excellent

"Staff were super friendly. Hotel felt spacious, lots of sun loungers to choose from on the beach. Easy walk to tavernas and bars, as well as a mini market, both beach side and up in the village. The yoga classes were great-not all for yoga bunnies which was a relief!! The gym facilities super. Amazing sunsets every night. Concierge helped us with taxis, hire cars and gave a great outside recommendation for our anniversary dinner one night. Loved it"

Electra Kefalonia Hotel & Spa

10/10 Excellent

"Situated near the airport, the hotel/resort is easy to get to. The hotel will arrange airport transport for a small fee. It is well staffed and exceptionally clean. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is on the ocean with access to a nice nearby beach. Several economical restaurants are within 2-3 minutes walk. Rental cars are available at the property (requiring international driving license) and are a must for seeing the area and the island. There are no shuttles to nearby towns or other parts of the island, so the rental car is the way to go. The restaurant food is very good, as is the free breakfast. The only "down side" would be the for the breakfast buffet where food was not replaced for long periods, example fried eggs and other items went empty for a while before they were refreshed. Other than that the place is really nice."

Tetra Retreat

10/10 Excellent

"My gf and I went and it was great, the main pool was practically free most of the time due to the personal pools most rooms had. The room pool it’s self was lovely and a nice size, although if you get too close to the edge you can see/are visible to other rooms as the walls either side ends. Each morning you get a lovely breakfast basket of bread/pastries and then select your main dish from the menu. Really enjoyed!"

ALKYONI-Magnificent Seaview -Waterfront-110sq m- Beautiful decoration-1st floor

10/10 Excellent

"The apartment was spotlessly clean. Nice gesture of a welcome basket with essentials. Host was great. Both balcony's had views of either the pool/sea or both. 2nd time staying at the apartment and would definitely return."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Karavomylos?

The best area to stay in Karavomylos is directly along the coast, particularly near the Melissani Cave and the Karavomylos Lake.

This area is the heart of the village, offering direct access to the sea and the region's natural wonders. The main road runs parallel to the coastline, with accommodations and a few tavernas dotted along it. It's a relatively small, spread-out village, so staying close to these landmarks ensures you're at the centre of what's available.

Couples looking for a tranquil escape will find this area particularly appealing. The proximity to Karavomylos Lake provides a peaceful setting for strolls, and the short walk to Melissani Cave for a boat tour is a convenient way to experience a key local attraction. Evenings can be spent enjoying a meal with sea views, offering a relaxing end to the day.

For families, staying near the lake is also a good option. The ducks and geese on Karavomylos Lake provide simple entertainment for children, and the calm, shallow waters along the nearby coastline offer opportunities for paddling.

When is the best time to go to Karavomylos?

The best time to go to Karavomylos is during the shoulder seasons of May, June, and September, when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are smaller.

These months offer warm, sunny days great for swimming and exploring, but without the peak summer heat and larger numbers of tourists seen in July and August. You'll find it easier to enjoy the local attractions and beaches at a more relaxed pace.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate the quieter atmosphere in May or September. You can enjoy strolls along the coastline, leisurely meals at waterfront tavernas, and boat trips to nearby Fiskardo or Assos without feeling rushed. The evenings are mild, ideal for enjoying a drink outdoors.

Families travelling with children will also find June or September particularly good. The sea temperatures are warm enough for comfortable swimming, and popular spots like Melissani Cave and Antisamos Beach are less crowded, making for a more enjoyable experience.
