The room smelled like someone smoked two packs of cigarettes one after the other before it got given to us. I travelled with a small baby it was atrocious. Could not air it out as the balcony faced their indoor pool so no air flow. Rooms were a medium level of clean, but bathroom was slightly below medium clean. I would not stay here again.
I lived in Kamloops for 52 years before moving to the Island almost 3 years ago. I returned to this city last weekend to take care of some personal business and also to visit with friends. I chose this hotel because it used to be one of this city's best. Got into Kamloops quite late on Saturday evening after a very long, full day of travel. I was tired and hungry when I got to the hotel. Check-in was OK but there was no place to park. I was advised to "just park out on the street if you can find a spot". I refused to park two blocks away from the hotel but did eventually find a spot. The carpet in the hallway on my room's level was dirty and stained, with one patch by the elevator that had some kind of stain or burn that looked really bad. There was dirt down the side of the shower curtain where other guests had obviously pulled the shower curtain closed and the shower bar was rusty and moldy. The hotel room was very dark, even when all the lights were turned on and I needed a flashlight to see the objects in my suitcase. The hotel has a musty/moldy smell to it, which is likely due to the 'open style, tropical atrium' pool area in the middle of the hotel. Romeo's was excellent the evening I arrived but I had a very disappointing lunch the second visit. In summary; my stay was short but disappointing, I couldn't get out of there fast enough and I will not be a guest there again. Lots of other choices in Kamloops; this one is off my list.
Check in was severely under staffed for everything going on that weekend and took waaay too long. Oh…and the lobby was an easy bake oven. Things to consider given the hotter than average seasonal temperatures. Made for a poor first experience. The room and amenities were stellar
