This property is a 2 1/2 to 3 min walk from the sandy beach of Lanikai (the property marker shows the property location incorrectly). Walk through the entry gate, and find yourself in the middle of your own personal "resort". A lush tropical yard greets you as you walk to the front door of this unique traditional beach-side cottage in the up-scale Lanikai neighborhood. The professionally landscaped property creates a welcoming and cool setting even on hot summer days. You just might have trouble pulling yourself (and the kids) away from our beach-entry pool to get over to Lanikai beach with its powder-soft sand, 200 meters away. The pool is always a great hit with young and old with its "lagoon feeling". This combined with this property's beach-side location, makes enjoying the unique feel of Lanikai a highlight. We are looking forward to sharing our "little piece of paradise" with you! Windward beaches with their powdery soft sand and gentle protected waters are among the best swimming beaches in the world. The Mokulua Islands off shore have been included in numerous advertisements and movies. This home is one of the last few remaining Hawaiian-style beach cottages offering its renters an exceptional tropical setting and truly unique Hawaiian experience. The house has an open floor-plan with an extensive patio deck, which is ideal for island-style indoor-outdoor living and delights with a casual elegance. It even boasts a rare fireplace (for Hawaii). It is updated to today's standards, and tastefully decorated, while maintaining its traditional charm. There are two master bedroom suites and one bedroom with an adjoining bathroom off the hallway. All of the bedrooms have wall-unit air conditioning (no central air). The kitchen has marble counters and modern appliances. Hardwood floors throughout are easy on your barefoot feet. We welcome families with children. Our typical group is 4 adults plus 2 children. Our max. is 6 adults at any time. We welcome children two-yrs and above. If you have other needs, please inquire. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: 1\. The rental will be exclusively reserved for one rental party for 30 consecutive days, and not re-rented to another party, even if the rental party occupies late or vacates early, and only uses a portion of the time booked. We require a 30-day rental contract. 2\. Local by-laws do not allow us to pro-rate for shorter stays, and requires us to charge a 30 day rental fee. Therefore, the rental price will not be reduced or adjusted based on the number of days the rental is actually used or occupied. Rates and fees are subject to seasonal change, special discounts, how many bedrooms are rented, and if shared property use is available or requested. We give up to 50% discounts. Please inquire. 3\. If you are unsure about your guest list, or your guest list changes, please contact the owner before making final arrangements with your guests. Occupancy is limited to the maximum number of occupants on the rental contract for each 30-day consecutive booking period. Guest names and ages must be the same as on the rental contract. We require the main renter, who signs the rental contract, to be physically present throughout the rental period. My family stayed here for a month and this property was everything we could have dreamed of. Clean, private, accommodating, packed with items for use (kayaks, toys, books, chairs, umbrellas, etc.). Our hosts were great as well, communication was flawless and helpful. We are already trying to plan a return trip. The location is right off the beach and in a great spot for everything on Oahu. Between the gorgeous landscaped yard and pool, and Lanikai beach, there’s nowhere else you’d want to go. House was clean, well stocked, and full of interesting decor. There are tons of beach toys/supplies and even kayaks. Owner met us upon arrival and was readily available for any questions. The house is maintained impeccably throughout the stay with yard, pool/hot tub and house cleaning. ##### Susannah H. The house itself was beautiful, clean, and radiated old Hawaiian charm. The grounds were exceptional with lush tropical landscaping, a gorgeous saltwater pool, and melodic chirping birds. The beach with it's turquoise water and white sand was an easy 2-3 min walk. Kailua Town had great shopping with tons of cute boutiques and shops. Buzz's was definitely our favorite restaurant! Everything about our stay was top notch and I would not change a single thing. The location in Lanikai is close to the beach but far enough away so that the area is private and quiet. The pool is gorgeous and one of our favorite things to do was to drink our coffee or tea in the early morning's by the pool in the pool house. All of the amenities that anyone would need for a stay at the house, beach or the pool are on site and in excellent condition. We are already dreaming of our return visit. ##### Janina H. House is a little dated but adds to its charm. My only complaint worth mentioning is the comfort of the beds and pillows. Had to go out and buy our own pillows, and the mattresses are very hard. The best feature of the home is the caretaker. He is absolutely wonderful!!! It’s like having your own personal concierge. He is so knowledgeable and helpful. This is a beautiful home surrounded by shady lush grounds with an historic banyan tree framing the mountain peaks - in an excellent location. The lagoon swimming pool and hot tub were perfect for our family. It is maintained to a very high standard and there is an on site caretaker who is very helpful with whatever we needed. The property is very well equipped, even a little red wagon to take your gear to the perfect beach a block away! ##### David G. The house is beautiful and the grounds truly are exceptional. I know sometimes you worry that the pictures are deceiving but the photos were spot with this place. My family loved the backyard area, the pool, the hot tub, the beautiful flowers, the birds. The neighborhood is amazing as well. We knew very little about Oahu and honestly just stumbled upon this place. But the location is perfect. Quaint, not crowded beach just a few hundred yards away. A phenomenal hike right behind the house. Shopping and restaurants 10 minutes away. Way away from the craziness of the tourist district. I can't say enough good things about this place. Not sure we will have the chance to spend a month in Hawaii again but if you get the chance you won't be disappointed if you stay here. Added bonus is the property manager (Topher). So kind, so helpful and full of tips for how to make the most out of your vacation! ##### Timothy P. The home is a garden paradise and everything we could ever want in a vacation celebrating our 25th wedding gift anniversary. We enjoyed the three outdoor sitting areas (the cabana is especially nice when you want a shady cool place) and the pool is spectacular. The backyard is at least 5-10 degrees cooler than the beach because of the great Banian tree and foliage. The house is well outfitted and very comfortable. Beds, bedding and pillows were great. AC in the rooms and fans were perfect for those of us who find anything over 75 degrees to be hot. The kitchen is well stocked, including spices. As many others have shared, Topher the caretaker is incredible. He takes great care to offer local suggestions and anything else that will make your stay enjoyable. While he lives on property, he is completely isolated from the main house and yard. If he needed to take care of something like meet the landscapers or clean the deck off he would always text and prearrange a time that was convenient for us. He also saved me when the neighbors were restoring their pool (jackhammering) and I needed to work. He sent me information on co-working space that worked perfectly. He also talked with the neighbors about the construction schedule so I could plan accordingly. He is a such a gem! (And Ghirr) The home also has great beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers and anything else you may need. We can’t wait to come back! ##### Melanie W. Our family of 4 stayed here for over two weeks and were thrilled with the experience. I would not hesitate to book here again (in fact I hope we get to!). The house is well taken care of and had a perfect blend for us of feeling like "home", but also not losing that feeling that you were in this spectacular place since the house has so many Hawaiian touches - like the openness, the windows and light, the wood, and the decor. The yard was magical. It is incredibly well maintained and was like a private retreat with several areas to sit and soak it all in. The cabana area was perfect to relax, but still supervise kids swimming the pool. We really appreciated the beach and pool equipment provided also. The owners were great with communication and as other reviewers mentioned, the caretaker Topher was incredible - responsive, helpful, with great tips to get the most out of the experience. ##### Brina S. Thanks so much for sharing your lovely island home. The caretaker Topher was waiting for us with a friendly welcome and orientation when we arrived. We had never rented a property with the caretaker living onsite, but Topher always respected our privacy and gave us invaluable recommendations. When you open the gate to the front yard containing the inviting pool, hot-tub, extensive decking, and beautiful tropical landscaping, you are transported to a glorious perfect paradise. The house itself is tastefully decorated and exudes old Hawaiian charm. The pictures do not do it justice. We didn’t go on as many outings during our stay because our favorite times were spent at the Banyan Hideaway. The powder soft sand of Lanikai Beach is a short distance away, and many memorable walks and sunrises were enjoyed. We have rented properties on or near Kailua Beach several times, but our stay this time in Lanikai was the absolute best. We can’t wait to return and once again experience perfect paradise. ##### Al K. The Lanikai Experience;) You can tell the owners take pride in their beautiful home. It is located in a quiet neighborhood with chirping birds & colorful Geckos! Photo opps EVERYWHERE!! Ah...where do I begin! My husband and I planned this vacation months in advance, and Chris (owner) was there from the very beginning. Her responses to my messages were timely and appropriate. Due to the Covid restrictions I thought I might have to show up a day after everyone else. Chris was very gracious by helping me get through those last 24 hours before the flight. Once my husband and I boarded the plane (on time) the fun began! Topher, the property manager met us with a great big smile & wave. He showed us around the home and answered all of our many questions. He was very informative about the neighborhood as well. He even text messaged us detailed directions to the famous Pill Box hiking trail located within walking distance from the home. He also let us borrow his stand up paddle board & little rolly thing to make our 2 minute walk to the ocean easier. The landscape was pristine and the pool and hot tub was always inviting. My family & I had such a wonderful peaceful time AGAIN in this slice of paradise! We hope to be back real soon. ##### Veronica S. Our family had the most incredible experience staying at this beautiful home — which is truly an oasis in the middle of paradise. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect home with attention to detail where every amenity is provided. The garden and outdoor area are simply stunning. We spent a lot of time enjoying the garden, pool and hot tub with our family, including our 4-year-old son. We went to the beach, which is a short 2-min walk away daily and watched some of the most stunning sunrises. If you are feeling really adventurous, you can take the Pillbox Hike, which is also a short walk from the house to the trailhead or you can stroll along the beach to Kailua Beach. Though we were there for a month, I wish it could have been longer. In addition to the phenomenal accommodations, our host, Topher truly made our stay magical. He helped us with anything we needed including recommendations for Surf lessons, restaurants and photographers for family portraits. We are so grateful that he was there. I was extremely worried that we would lose all our money since it was so close to our reservation date, (our travel insurance didn't cover pandemics of course). Chris completely set my mind at ease by being kind enough to let us reschedule our stay for the following year with no penalties or additional costs. Chris was also very quick to respond with any questions or concerns that I had and was more than helpful during this stressful situation. We want to try and give you an honest review, with the facts, although it is very difficult, given the circumstances we found ourselves in. However, these are the disappointing aspects of our stay: - The garden is full of trees and as such there are leaves constantly everywhere, even though they have gardeners once a week, it does not stop the pool from getting dirty. This should be clean each day. The adults never went into the pool. - House had Cockroaches inside the house. We were told by Topher, (The Property Caretaker) it was due to the fact we were in the tropics. We have been going to Hawaii for 20 years and we have never encountered Cockroaches. They were throughout the house and big. A bit disconcerting to find them on the bed, in the bathrooms and running across the living room floor. - The roof leaked in several places and when we brought this to Topher's attention, he stated that it only does it when it rains and gave us bowls to place under the leaks. This went on for several days, as it was raining for a few days. We emptied the bowls and mopped up the floor. - Next issue was the Power, when you had a few appliances on in the Kitchen, the breakers tripped and the power went off, when we brought this to Topher's attention, he stated, that it's only because it's raining. So for several days of our stay, we ended up having to switch on the breaker. - The kitchen sink and the aster Bathroom Sinks were blocked, Topher gave us some powder to put down the sinks to clear them, however we only managed to clear the kitchen sink drain. - The hot tub cover is ripped and needs replacing. Upon our departure we were told that we had made a hole in the lid and as such we would be charged, through the insurance. - We had to buy our own beach Umbrellas and most of the beach items are old and need replacing or updating. - There is no Cooler for the beach and we had to borrow, Topher's. - Be aware that the pool is cold and not a heated one. Its hard to give an objective review, when the owner was so difficult to deal with. In our opinion, the house and its equipment is old and it has not been maintained as it should and needs updating. Topher did all he could as a Caretaker. Note: This owner did not abide by the VRBO COVID-19 policy and would not refund the money for the cancellation of 10 days of our trip. Due to the virus we were called back to Canada, thus cutting our trip short. VRBO and ourselves did not get a reply to our request for a refund. ##### Ronald G. Séjour de 22 nuits en mars 2020
