"Clean, comfortable, spacious room. Great, helpful staff. Close to bus station, restaurants, stores, boutiques, and four-FOUR charity shops! :)
(Parking is confusing, however. Park in the nearby city lot in a space with WHITE borders-otherwise you may have to pay.)"

"We had a lovely stay at the Old Schoolhouse. Our room and bathroom were spacious. Our hosts had homemade treats for us each day (an oatmeal raisin cookie our first day and a piece of spice cake the next). Our breakfast was at a large table with the other guests. We loved talking to them, several of whom were walking the length of Hadrian's wall. The breakfast itself was delicious and generous. We would absolutely stay here again."

"Room was clean and tidy on arrival
Staff went above and beyond very helpful nothing was to much
Breakfast was amazing lots of choice whatever your taste and all the food that came out looked good liked the fact juice and pasties where available as well as tea/ coffee and toast.
We took our dog and again the staff order water and happily gave him a sausage for his breakfast.
A lovely hotel in centre of Britain definitely worth a stop over"

"Check in was quick and easy. Staff were helpful and polite, even moved me from a room in the inn to an annexe room so I could be away from noise from bar. Also had a very good breakfast which is extra but excellent value for money. Definitely recommend it hotel and breakfast."

"The hotel was good, however the bathroom definitely require an upgrade, the tiles and bathroom suite is dated and plumbing old. The shower pressure was very low. The bedding and towels were really good. And this is very important to me. But definitely bathroom needs improvement"
"Generally the stay we had was good. Room was fine apart from the fact the carpet could do with a deep clean. This didn’t spoil our stay as we never walk around any floor without shoes. Breakfast was good and in plenty of choice. Maybe the etiquette of hotel staying could be better as some very inconsiderate guests have no consideration regarding the noise they make very late at night. Great location for Metro Centre and very close to bus stop for Newcastle. We had a lovely time."
"We had a lovely stay at Slaley Hall. The building, grounds and setting are beautiful. Our spacious room had a huge picture window overlooking the golf course, a large comfortable bed and good amenities. The complimentary minibar was a lovely touch.
The food was excellent. Breakfast had a great range of cooked and continental choices and our evening meals were every bit as good, if not better. The bar staff were always friendly, smiling and chatty, despite the bar appearing understaffed at times.
There were some housekeeping issues. The sofa was stained, the iron needed cleaning before use and glasses left in our room on day two hadn’t been cleaned properly, with lipstick still visible on one rim.
Restaurant service was our main disappointment. On one occasion I waited while two staff continued discussing which tables they would serve before acknowledging me. On our final evening, around five staff were talking together while we waited to be seated. We could hear them discussing which guests had or hadn’t tipped, including guests who had experienced problems with their stays. This felt inappropriate and unprofessional.
These issues didn’t spoil what was otherwise a really enjoyable stay. We’d happily return, but greater attention to housekeeping and restaurant service would make a very good stay an excellent one."
