I attempted to resolve this matter offline, but the conversation turned sour quickly and Norman ended the phone call threatening me that if I went forward with writing a review that he would be retaliating. Nevertheless, I think there needs to be some accountability for the issues that my wife and I encountered during our stay, and hopefully this review triggers a response that will ultimately lead to a positive experience for future guests if they choose to book this property.
Los Suenos resort is great. Great pools, plenty of dining options on and near the resort. Very safe. Unfortunately, this condo is not currently in a condition fitting of the title of "luxury condo". Its very dated, and it appears the owner has put a minimal effort into the general upkeep of the property. Just enough to get by.
Below is a detailed list of the concerns we ran into:
Kitchen/Laundry area
Dead termites/larvae in the wall.
Mold growing in the pictures on the wall.
Dirt/scuff on the wall
Crumbs on the counter/floor
Broken microwave handle with gobs of superglue on the handle
Old/worn cookware and dishes- not suitable for enjoying a homemade meal
Living Room
Crumbs on couch
Ceiling fan light was broken/superglued
Master Bedroom
Sheets were dirty. when we pulled them back there was hair and crumbs in the sheets
Bathrooms
Counters had scum from where previous tenants used their toiletries
Dirt/scuff on the doors
I reached out to Norman and he offered to have a cleaning crew come in the next morning. They were there promptly and cleaned the sheets, floors, and counters. It was enough to where we felt comfortable staying.
I later messaged Norman and requested a "partial" reimbursement considering the conditions such as the termites and the general poor condition of the condo. He got very defensive and made it clear he was not interested in discussing a reimbursement. He defended the condition of the property and explained that the termites infested the attic area and were discovered in the kitchen shortly before our visit. He had them sprayed/killed, but was not able to have it all cleaned up prior to our visit.
I will say Norman was always quick to respond, and was polite in most of our interactions aside from our last. He even let me use his golf clubs to golf earlier in the week! Nevertheless, I do not feel the condition of the property in its current state is something anyone would deem acceptable when spending this much money for vacation
