It’s truly breathtaking to enjoy your morning coffee on a comfortable sofa while gazing at iconic monuments and the ferries cruising along. When you’re ready to head out to explore, the touristic epicenter of Taksim Square, posh streets of Nişantaşı district or the recently modernized hip Karaköy neighborhood are all awaiting to entertain you. The building is named Samibey, built by and named after my late grandfather Dr. Zülfü Sami Özgen and served as the family’s main residence for over 30 years. This first-floor apartment has recently been completely stripped down, renovated and refurbished with new furniture and equipment for the comfort and pleasure of our guests. The 70m2 apartment has been re-designed to accommodate a modern open kitchen – living room setting for the purpose of convenience and coziness. The doorway opens to the center of this area. As you enter the space you find the living room and the dining area situated on your left, facing the Bosporus and the kitchen area on your right. The living room area houses a dinner table, comfortable sofas around a coffee table and a TV with cable. The kitchen area is equipped with new appliances such as stove, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine/dryer, coffee makers (filter and Turkish), kettle, toaster, pots and pans, plates, cutlery, utensils and basic cooking ingredients. Two full bathrooms are located at either end of a hallway that leads to the rear of the apartment. Both bathrooms have been modernized for guests’ hygiene and comfort. All three bedrooms are located along this hallway. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds and the other has a single bed all with fresh linens, extra pillows and blankets for those guests that seek added comfort and warmth, as well as ample wardrobe space for heavy packers. All rooms are equipped with A/C units for those hot summer days. A large communal garden located on the ground floor of the building is available for the pleasure of our guests along with other residents, presenting ample green grass to lie on and an assortment of trees to relax under. ## Commodités de l’hébergement ### Internet - The check in was not straightforward as despite the fact we gave ample notice from the airport we still had to wait 30 minutes before we were allowed in the property. The property is advertised sleeps 8 but there was only bed for for 5 people and the apartment was only big enough for for 5 people as the dinner table could only accommodate for 5 people. The location is great in terms proximity to the public transport but it was noisy. The gentleman host whom we met was somewhat abrupt almost bordering on being rude. The washing machine malfunctioned halfway through with our clothes stuck in it for 2 days whilst the host was trying to get a service person. At the end we googled the problem and sorted the problem out ourselves. Although most of the flat was ok in terms of cleanliness, there were areas behind the doors that had not been attended to for a while with an insect splattered on the wall behind one of the doors. The bathroom mats had also seen better days. The shower head was broken in one of the showers and shower hose was not functioning and it took one week for that to be fixed. The common outdoor area advertised, was very common and was shared with several flats and was very noisy regardless of the time of day or night. Although we had booked the apartment for 2 weeks, the host was reluctant to change the towels and sheets despite the very hot weather and only changed the towels only when we insisted ##### masood s.
