This is bad enough that we decided to give up 2 prepaid nights and leave early despite having a 2WD SUV (To their credit, hotel credit us for our incidentals, which accounted for part of the nightly rate). I highly recommend this hotel as long as you have known brand AWD SUV. The hotel casually informs you of this as a requirement after you book, which was too late for us." Unfortunately we were right by the pool with the pool towels (clean & a dirty basket) was by our door so people were often right by our door. Once we returned and a lady was holding a towel up so the other woman could change in front of our door! Talking from those at the pool went right through the window glass. There was supposed to be a 10 pm quiet hour but our neighbors didn’t pay attention to it. On the good side, the staff was very helpful with setting up taxis & tours as well as general info. Breakfast was adequate with a choice of 5 meals." The room itself was clean and the view was gorgeous. We were disappointed with the general service, particularly in the hotels restaurant. We booked a table on the first evening and it wasn't ready when we arrived, with the staff seeming stressed at our arrival. We were sat down 15 minutes late and the food took over an hour to arrive, during which time we were not visited once by the staff and the tables around us were left dirty. This was despite the restaurant being quite empty close to the end of service. There wasn't many staff available on site to talk to, and it felt like quite an inconvenience to them when you had a request. This does not include the girl who was volunteering with the hotel who was very helpful." All of the lodge buildings are very sympathetically designed, and blend well with the surroundings. Everywhere is very clean and maintained to a high standard. We loved sitting on the bar stools and watching the monkeys and morpho butterflies. All staff were polite, friendly and helpful, and assisted us with booking excursions. The food was very tasty and beautifully presented, as were the cocktails! We loved the quirky bed in our cabin, and enjoyed sitting on the veranda and watching all the wildlife in the creek below - juvenile caimans, turtles, lizards, dragonflies, and my absolute favourites - hummingbirds. Listening to the orchestra of sounds at night was at night was fantastic! We did a night walk and we're amazed at our guide's knowledge, enthusiasm, and ability to spot creatures that we would never have seen without him! The trails within the grounds are easy to follow, and there is so much to see - including the resident sloth - ask the staff and they will point him out to you. I was thrilled to see so many hummingbirds. Danta Corcovado Lodge is a great place, and all staff work hard to ensure that guests are well looked after and enjoy their stay."
