The view, the sound, and the feel of the never-ending waves and Caribbean breeze create an experience you will love and not soon forget. Villa Amistad was professionally designed by a noted architect to maximize one's experience with the sights and sounds of the waves crashing ashore. Featuring floor-to-ceiling "walls of glass" serving all common rooms and master bedroom suites. Most anywhere you find yourself in the villa, your eyes will be drawn to remarkable views. In the kitchen, in the dining room, living room, patio, master suite, and balcony, and even from the master shower, your eyes will be fixed on the beautiful Caribbean. For those unfamiliar with Isla Mujeres, Isla is the original Mexican resort from before Cancun existed. Today, Isla is now the leading day trip from Cancun, with thousands visiting daily. Isla offers a nice break from the "unreality" of the Cancun all-inclusives. Yes, Isla has a world-class beach, an underwater national park, and other notable attractions, but what sets Isla apart is the vibe. Starting with the happy people, the vibe is infectious. It's hard not to be happy in Isla. It's probably why there is a significant expat community on Isla. Not to be outdone by the amazing view are the sounds of the crashing waves and the feel of the never-ending Caribbean breezes. Villa Amistad is set apart as being one of the few places on the planet where you can have such an experience from your own backyard. One could watch for hours, the 5-6 ft frigate birds floating effortlessly, the many small fishing boats, and cruise ships at night, plus the never-ending waves. And as a practical benefit of the breezes, rarely is there a mosquito to be found. Here are a couple of can't miss features. From the king suites, you will be treated to some great sunrises. Just walk onto the balcony, grab a lounger, and start snapping pictures. Next, if you happen to be at the villa on or around the full moon you will get to enjoy some spectacular views of the full moon, rising over the Caribbean ocean. Back to the Villa itself, we provide a light daily maid service (except Sundays). Guests are greeted upon arrival by an English-speaking host to provide an introduction to the facilities and answer any questions concerning your stay. This was flat out the best vacation rental of my life, and I am 68! No box checked is less than 5 stars: lots of prearrival emails to make sure we knew what the process was - someone met us at the door (friendly Omar) and explained all the details of the residence - Julia, our designated concierge, was invaluable (and always responsive on very short notice) in coordinating fun activities during our stay - Stacy, our prime contact from the property manager was always speedily responsive when we needed any questions answered - and Gordon, the property manager (owner?) was a font of useful tips, especially, the best places to eat. As for the unit itself, it is beautifully and brilliantly designed to optimize living areas and amazing bedrooms - with a fun to live in combination kitchen dining area and sunken living room, all with the best views on the island... and lots of bathrooms (3 1/2). Kept very clean by daily maid service except on Sunday... I'm sure there are many more things I could say, but I don't want to be too redundant.When we next return to the island this will be the only place we consider if it's available. ##### Joshua G. It was spacious and in a great location in town (3-5 minute walk to the ferry dock, restaurants and shopping. It is a duplex so you will share the pool with the neighbors (if it is rented) but that was never a problem for us. Seems we were on different schedules and not using the pool at the same time. There are private decks for sitting as well on the second floor and rooftop with gorgeous views. The concierge service was nice- we used the grocery shopping and had the house stocked with food before we arrived. Two of the bedrooms have openings in the walls or above the doors so, while you can’t see into the rooms, you can hear noise from elsewhere in the house when sleeping in these rooms. Something to keep in mind if you’re a louder group or are on very different sleep schedules. It was not a problem for us. We received excellent communication with the property manager. We had a few small issues and questions and they were addressed immediately. I would recommend this property for the spaciousness, views and proximity to town as well as excellent customer service by the property manager, concierge and owners.Thanks for a wonderful stay! ##### Lauri R. Villa Amistad was perfect! Exactly as described, perfect for family and friends vacation! Location was great, whole north end of Isla was walkable and the morning sunrises were the best!! Our only issues were when Beryl hit, which there was nothing the host could do about that or that we lost power. It was a rough last 24 hours, but the host was communicating with us constantly checking on us, prepped as best they could and advised us on what to do. I would recommend Villa Amistad to anyone looking for a larger rental and Gordan, Stacy and Julia were great to assist us with everything we needed!! ##### Diane O.
