"Wir (drei Familien) haben einen tollen Skiurlaub in Raneburg/Matrei verbracht. Das Haus wurde sehr liebevoll renoviert und ist nun eine schöne Kombination aus einem altem Bauernhaus mit modernen Aspekten. Die drei Zimmer boten den drei Familien einen guten Rückzugsort und in der großen, gut ausgestatteten Küche und Stubn konnte man wunderbar zusammen die Abende verbringen. "Hotel Sonne is a comfortable hotel right in the center of Lienz, a quick walk from the train and bus stations. The interior of the building itself is definitely dated and a bit austere, but that really didn’t impact my stay. My room was comfortable and had a fantastic view of the mountains. The breakfast options were great, and I appreciated that breakfast itself started at 6:00 (I’m an early riser). The staff were friendly and accommodating. I didn’t have time to try the sauna or the gym, but I’m glad they were included. The price was fair and good value."

"Two sisters run this hotel and they are wonderfully kind and involved in making any stay here exceptional. The service is second to none. The breakfast is spectacular, with locally sourced farm to table products. They have a huge assortment of great tea and desserts available to guests. We didn’t hit the spa, as we stayed here during our time hiking in the Dolomites. It was a bit further out from some of the hotels nearer the hikes but it is absolutely worth it to be in such a beautiful place with such incredible hospitality. "

"Entire upper floor is for your use. Three large bedrooms and two bathrooms. Very quiet—it’s a sheep farm. Hostess Sandra speaks excellent English and is very helpful. I loved the fancy coffee machine. It has a nice view over the whole town of Matrei. "
