Private Tipi Rental in Paonia, Ideal for Colorado Glamping
- We’re very sorry to announce that the tipi skin and its covering was recently shredded in a Micro Bust of Wind. The platform and poles are still there leaving the impression of Johnna in the whale. You’ll need to bring your own tent and supplies or a camper van/ popup if you do not require electricity. If you need electricity, we have R1 And RV2 sites. This is our best site for river access and one of the most private, being surrounded by trees and closest to the river on the east side, with distant mountain views of Mount Lamborn and Lands End. It is also one of our largest sites and includes two tables, a camp grill for briquettes, an iron fire pit with wood provided, four metal chairs around the fire pit, three resin chairs, two metal chairs with a small table on the tipi platform, and an ice chest. There is also a hard-shell kayak with paddles available for your use.
This site offers several tent placement options: on the tipi platform, which has a rubber mat; on the wood-chip area, or on the grassy area to the right as you enter the site.
The best fly fishing is at Pleasure Park outside Hotchkiss, where guides have been available in the past. There is also a paddleboard rental place in Hotchkiss, and many guests enjoy paddleboarding on Crawford Lake or heading higher into the mountains.
Grand Mesa, the largest flat-top mesa in the world, has around 300 lakes and is about 1 hour and 15 minutes away.
Kebler Pass is also open. It is a dirt road that leads to Crested Butte, and there are several beautiful, fish-filled lakes along the way. It is about 1–2 hours away, but well worth the drive.
A quick note about Colorado water conditions this year: we have had the lowest snowpack on record, thus water levels later in the season are still uncertain.
Also, areas near water tend to have mosquitoes, so please be prepared with spray or other precautions. We’ve also been seeing fireflies on the property lately.
As for the fee adjustment, there is of course a reduction since this is now a campsite. Riverside is $55.00 per night because there is no power. If you have booked the Tipi, you will have a refund coming to you.
I hope this answers some of your questions, but please let us know if you have any others.
We look forward to hosting your group.
