Colony Surf boasts fine French dining restaurant Michel's on the ground floor, and is just across the street from Kapiolani Park and a short walk to the Honolulu Zoo and Waikiki Aquarium. The view is phenomenal, the space is clean and modern, the kitchen is well stocked with all of the key items (except for a can opener), the beach is great (away from most of the tourists), it’s right next to Kapi’olani park with pickle ball. soccer, and great walking paths. The breezes that flow through keep it well ventilated on most nights and days. It’s bright and the open windows make for a great and quiet view even at night. There are only three things that I would change: 1) the bed is not comfortable. In hindsight I would’ve bought a memory foam mattress topper to provide more support, 2) the bottom half of the entry door has clear louvers, which limits privacy, and 3) the hot water in the shower/bathroom isn’t available much before 6:30 am, which made it a challenge when I was trying to work on the West Coast clock. Although these are the reasons why I can’t give it five stars, none of these were deal killers, and I would rent this place 100% of the time for any length of stay. It was great and we fell in love with this unit. If you were able to get a guest membership at the outrigger canoe club next-door, they have a great happy hour and fantastic ocean views.
