Volcano Vista: Adventure Chalet w/ View, 2br (dry property, check description)

Relax in the tranquility of a comfy getaway w/ a view. 20 scenic min. from Homer, AK, panoramic vistas, outdoor opportunities, and the charm of a chalet w/ most of the comforts of home. About a mile to Homer Rope Tow, Lookout Mtn. ski trails, & back country trails. Explore nearby trails in any season by foot, snowshoe, ski, fat tire bike, snow machine, or ATV. Wonderful for some time away in winter. Perfect for solitude in summer!

2 story, 900 sq. ft. chalet with a bedroom on each floor. Each bedroom also has a twin air mattress available for sleeping options. Full kitchen except no running water. (12 gal. of delicious well water is provided per 2 nights.) Bathroom is an outdoor, well lit outhouse complete with heater that is switched on from the chalet. Heat sources are wood stove and oil monitor stove. Relax and enjoy views of the Anchor River valley by day and (hopefully!) northern lights from the deck or living room by night (in winter). In summer and fall take in the rolling hills of forest and fire weed. Upstairs landing has a small TV/DVD player and a selection of DVDs as well as toys, books, baby gate, and pack 'n' play. Opposite small deck has firewood storage and access to outhouse. Fire ring is available in the yard, please bring your own firewood. Wood for wood stove provided. On clear days spot Redoubt volcano from the deck. Location is about 1 mile from Watermelon Trail, Homer Rope Tow, and Lookout Mountain ski trails. In summer the Watermelon Trail is accessible for hiking, fat tire biking, and ATV adventures. Volcano Vista is a great place to relax after a day of fishing or exploring the Spit and Homer must-sees (Pratt Museum, Islands & Ocean, Wynn Nature Center, etc!). Best for 4 guests, up to 2 additional guests, $20 per additional guest per night. Cell phone coverage can be spotty, but is generally reliable. Enjoy a glamping getaway, jumping off point for family adventure, or bring your visitors above Homer for a quiet evening in the hills. ** Please note: parking is nearby and the chalet is not visible from the road. Access is a short walk along the edge of the yard.

Spring time weekend away
Very clean cabin with the two queen beds being comfortable. It's a ways from town but accessible. The road there is pretty bumpy, normal Alaskan life. Gorgeous views. The kids enjoyed the outhouse experience after all.

907 rules!
Picked a cold and windy hockey tournament weekend. But the view was fantastic! Stars were out just like on top of a Hawaiian volcano, only better. And colder. Great communication with host, Homer is a fun town with great food. Next time we’re back, staying at Volcano Vista again.

The Vista Is Calling You Must Go
If you want to "fly like an eagle", this rustic-chic cabin is the place for you. From the comfort of the back porch, we were able to see magpies, a young eagle and even a young bull moose. Watching him graze for almost an hour made time stand still and made us feel closer to nature. We were slightly apprehensive about staying in a dry cabin. As the outhouse was just steps away, it was no problem even for city slickers like us. Having to "rough it" a little only added to the charm of our visit. The newly built cabin is a twenty minute drive up and inland from Homer proper. It is very clear with many beautiful decorative touches. The kitchen is well stocked with the essentials like hot cocoa and popcorn and there is an outstanding selection of books about the area to feed the mind. The hosts seemed to have thought of everything a guest might need including eye masks although they weren't really needed. This property is the perfect Alaskan getaway!

Off the beaten path cabin
If you are looking for a quite place to stay, this is you one. The kitchen was well stocked and they provided plenty of water. The views were amazing but you can't see the spit from the house. During the 30 min drive from the spit is some of the most beautiful views we had so far. Oh and one last thing, if your wife is not tracking what a dry cabin means, please inform them.

A true place to relax
Just driving there I knew that this place was going to be a good stay, the hills were covered with wild flowers trees and we even saw a bull moose from the property. Very charming place to stay with your love one or friends. Just minutes from the homer spit. We enjoyed grilling our catch from our fishing charter trip and had our dinner outside next to the fire pit outside with a beautiful view. Can’t wait to come back next time. Thanks so much.
