With new beds, mattresses and furniture, this is a lovely two-level cabin, hand-built by Homer homesteaders with recent renovations completed in 2015. Moose Meadows has three cozy upstairs bedrooms, a modern kitchen, fully equipped for all your cooking desires, with a fully remodeled bathroom with bath and shower. The wildlife in the immediate area is abundant, with moose, eagles, sandhill cranes, porcupines and many others. The cabin is sited privately with a large private yard, view of the bay, and a virgin wilderness behind. From the cabin, you can see beautiful Kachemak Bay and the mountains across the way. The cabin provides modern features, has ample space and is a beautiful spot for a family to stretch out and use as a base of operations to explore Homer and Kachemak Bay. This cabin sits alone on a 3 acre plot 12 miles out East End road but has ready access on a graveled road, and is close to the amenities in the Fritz Creek area (gas, groceries, spirits), a world-class restaurant, and horse-back riding. In the beautiful town of Homer are halibut and salmon fishing, the Pratt Museum, galleries, restaurants, groceries, ATV tours, kayaking, music/theater, glacier/bear viewing, air tours and much, much more. The cabin is within walking distance of a historic site of rich significance, the Kilcher Homestead, where I grew up in an austere 400 square foot homesteaders cabin that you’ll want to visit.
