Welcome to The Cottage at Locavore Farm, a fully restored, 100-year-old cottage set within a peaceful 32-acre working farm with prairie, pasture, gardens, woods, and a one-acre pond.

Once a quiet countryside retreat for its original owners, The Cottage has been thoughtfully renovated with charm, simplicity, and respect for its historic beginnings. Tastefully decorated and designed for rest, it sleeps up to six guests with two queen bedrooms and a queen sleeper sofa, making it a comfortable stay for couples, small families, or friends looking for a peaceful farm getaway.

Guests may book The Cottage simply as a quiet farm stay, or purchase tickets separately to one of Locavore’s seasonal experiences, including Dine on the Land dinners and weekly Thursday farm events from May through October.

This is an authentic, running family farm where guests can connect with nature, walk the prairie, relax by the pond, visit the farm shop, fish, watch the sunrise, and observe the restoration of land once conventionally farmed into a place of beauty, abundance, rest, and life.

The Cottage includes the essentials for a comfortable stay, including a kitchen and dining area, mini-fridge, coffee pot, tea kettle, convection/air-fryer oven combo, pots and pans, bottled water, coffee, cream, tea, sugar, and other items available upon request. The bathroom includes a shower and bath with a double sink.

During your stay, guests may participate in Locavore Farm experiences and events, including weekly Thursday farm gatherings and select Saturday Dine on the Land dinners. All farm experiences, dining events, special events, drinks, and tickets are sold separately. Please visit our website for current dates, details, availability, and reservations.

Wonderful stay in the cottage on a beautiful farm with very gracious hosts, Chris and Rachael. We received a warm welcome and tour of the house and farm upon arrival. The house was clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed (sheets, coffee, towels). They brought us rods to fish. The cats and animals were a nightlight with the kid. Lovely to wake up each day and walk around the farm. Highlight was staying for the Thursday dinner. Thank you so much!

Delightful Relaxing Stay

We had the most wonderful time! We arrived during the Thursday dinner and could drop our bags off and walk over for dinner and drinks. We then relaxed outside watching fireflies. My two boys were excited to see the animals and had a wonderful time feeding them and petting them. The house is so charming and exactly the right size. We will definitely be back!

We loved Locavore!

We enjoyed the cottage for two perfect days and nights on Mother's Day weekend with the bonus of a farm-to-table dinner and lovely music in the pasture under a beautiful clear sky. There is magic happening on this idyllic family farm: 1. Sunset began with a golden glow and lasted a full three hours. I credit the 360-degree horizon and big sky. 2. Were the roosters respectful with crowing times or were we oblivious to their crows because we were having the purest sleep? 3. Breakfast was harvested all within fifty feet of our door; eggs from the chicken coop and spinach, tarragon and green garlic from the garden. All six of us ate at table together with the front door open to the view of sunshine on the golden pasture. All was made possible by a delightful, welcoming host family and their charming farmyard animals. We wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Locavore Farm to enjoy the company of the human, donkey, cow, pig, chicken, sheep, doggie and kitty residents, and to be inspired by an education on regenerative farming and permaculture food production. Visit, relax, slow down, and feel true peaceful connection.

Picture Perfect

The cottage was absolutely perfect down to every last detail. It's appropriately furnished in what I would call upscale farmhouse style. Everything is done with good taste, creativity and style. It's new and clean, with every amenity you can think of provided to you.

Delightful weekend stay

This farmstay is a delight: the owners are welcoming and very warm, keen to make you comfortable and relaxed in enjoying their property. Wonderful, imaginative, fresh food was served as well as happy times walking the property and visiting with the animals. Owners are working hard - and effectively - on a regenerative program of husbandry and generation of food that us of the film “Best Little Farm”. Truly “Best” farm stay in Illinois! Location is great for Quilt Barn tours and Kankakee Riverfront as well.
