Start your vacation here! This charming custom log home will wow you! Our peaceful surroundings are the perfect place to escape and unwind. We are located in a private, secluded setting on Lake Chippewa on the Chippewa Flowage. With access to water activities, fishing, hiking, biking trails, "me time" and great shopping in Hayward this is a MUST stay for family and friends! Our home has high speed wireless internet throughout the property, a fully stocked kitchen with cookware, dishes, microwave, blender, toaster, mixer, waffle maker, pancake griddle, crock pots, coffee maker, and essential utensils and gadgets. The 2 family sized living rooms give everyone plenty of space to unwind. Both rooms include comfy furniture and a large flat screen TV and are internet service ready. The Keurig and gas grill are waiting for you to enjoy your morning coffee and a bite to eat on our oversized deck or cozy 3 season porch . With 3 bedrooms and an additional kids' area with two bunk beds there is room for everyone to get a great night's sleep! There is a queen bed in the loft area with a ceiling fan and closet area, a queen bed with a ceiling fan and a large walk in closet on the main level, and a king bed in an oversized bedroom and full closet in the lower level. Each bed is prepared with quality sheets, blankets and quilts for sweet dreams for all. Two bathrooms round out the house both with showers and one with a tub. The main floor washer dryer is available for use as needed. Enjoy the excellent fishing and boating on Lake Chippewa. This 15,300 acre lake is one of the best fishing lakes in the Hayward area; known for it's Musky, Northern Pike, Walleye, Bass and panfish. Be amazed by the silence as you relax at the fire pit or spend time on the water. Our 35 foot dock is ready for your boats, or just sit on the bench and throw in a line! There is a fish cleaning station near the garage ready for you to use. Take a break from fishing and explore the Flowage with our 2 Kayaks. How about a bike trip? Hayward has amazing bike trails for both the leisure biker and the fat tire enthusiast. Or find that "me" time with one of the many books, Cribbage, puzzles, cards, dice and board games inside the property! For your stay we provide all paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, coffee filters), trash bags, LP gas for the grill, liquid dish soap, dishwasher tabs and Clorox wipes. We also provide linens for all beds and bath towels. We have a traditional coffee maker AND a Keurig with a variety of coffee and tea pod for you to use. For your convenience there is a second refrigerator in the garage for any "extras" you may have. We do not have beach towels so please bring your own to use outside on the property so we can keep the bath towels inside for all to use. We LOVE dogs and we want you to enjoy your vacation with the whole family, including the furry members. Up to two dogs are allowed at our home with prior approval and an additional fee. With that, keep in mind our home may not be the place for your furry babies if they: \*Consider barking to be a favorite pastime \*Chew things other than bones \*Like to visit others unsupervised (we do not have a fenced-in yard) \*Uses the house as a bathroom. We ask that your dogs be supervised at our home and crated when you are not on the property (a crate is not available on-site, so please bring your own). Also, PLEASE pick up after your dog(s)!! The home is very nice--full of everything you'll need for a week of vacation. It's nice that the home is so well stocked! Everything was clean and welcoming. The host was easy to communicate with. Chippewa Flowage is an absolutely beautiful body of water. It's mostly wilderness and wildlife abounds. If you're staying here, it's a waste to not have a boat. The home sits on a narrow, quiet cove, which is nice, but you won't get a real feel/view of the lake without a boat. We rented a pontoon for the week, which we used a lot. It was a good sized boat and tying it up securely to the dock took some creativity since there are no cleats on the dock. If you're going to dock a boat, definitely bring your own ropes and a couple large carabiners. There were a couple ropes left on the dock, which helped, but it took some real effort to tie the boat securely enough to withstand whatever wind/storms could occur. A couple dock cleats would be a VERY welcome addition. Fishing from the dock was pretty good, got a few pike, a few bass, and a single perch. There wasn't much in the way of panfish, but that's okay. The firepit is really nice and we used that one night. Overall, I highly recommend this home! ##### Benjamin M. We were so happy with our experience at the Great Escape! The house was clean, fully stocked, and the owners were very responsive. The house was very private, and the views were beautiful. The kids and grandkids especially enjoyed fishing and swimming from the dock. The house was equipped with everything you need. Communication with Ann was great. Every year our group gets together to relax and do some fishing. This year we tried something new and chose this cabin in the beautiful Hayward area. We were not disappointed. Quiet beautiful setting, wood burning fireplace, our own dock, and plenty of room for the 7 of us. We will definitely be back. ##### Troy F. The fishing was amazing and the property was very well maintained and private. The property was very well maintained and clean. It is a very nice, quality home and was just as described. A key item was that they provided so many extras that others dont, extra pots, pans, utensils, bags, lighters, you name it. They had a great firepit with unlimited dry wood, very nice. And best of all was the location. Very quiet, private and if you have a boat (we did) the dock and dock location cant be beat. Over all : Very nice. ##### dsanders1001 S. The house was lovely and well equipped. The dock and fire pit were wonderful and we loved paddling in the kayaks. The flowage was beautiful and we enjoyed boating and looking at the wildlife. My wife & I just finished up a month in this wonderful house. It was “just as described” - which is refreshing.Visiting friends & family were delighted at the property and its amazing location. Lake Chippewa is one of America’s largest “wilderness lakes”! 25-square miles of virtually undisturbed shoreline. Bald eagles, loons, deer, an unbelievable amount of wildlife. This has to be one of the most magnificent VRBO rentals in the North Woods!! We could not be more pleased with our stay at THE GREAT ESCAPE. ##### Rick P. Ann was wonderful to work with and was always quick to respond and accommodate. Ann agreed to allow 12 people when I asked if we could bring an air mattress. The kitchen had EVERYTHING you would need. The cabin is secluded and peaceful. It’s a tough lake to fish because it’s so large, but we figured it out toward the end of the week. Fishing off the dock wasn’t fruitful, but I think it’s because the lake was two feet lower than normal. I highly recommend this cabin!!! So beautiful! ##### tania r. We've stayed on various lakes. Fished and mountain biked. This place calls us back year after year. The Chippewa Flowage and this VRBO were the best we've stayed at and on thus far.
