Eager historians can explore chronicles of former times at the Museum of the City of Havana and the Casa Natal de Jose Marti. Do you like the sound of those? You'll be able to learn even more at the Museo Nacional de los Comites de Defensa de la Revolucion and the Museo de la Ciudad.

The Jose Marti Memorial and Necropolis de Colon are certainly worth paying a visit to, even if you aren't a history buff. When it comes to bygone times, there's always more to discover. El Capitolio and Los Tres Reyes Del Morro Castle are two more great places to stop by.

Military history buffs should enjoy touring Castillo de San Salvador de la Punta and La Cabana, two examples of the area's various historical forts and strongholds. Many visitors are also dazzled by the time-worn walls of El Morro and Fortaleza de San Carlos de la Cabaña.

Some of the region's most famed families have called Palacio del Segundo Cabo and Palacio De Los Capitanes Generales "home" throughout the years. Be sure to get out your camera as you take in their striking architecture and plush interiors. You may also like to stroll through the leafy gardens and hear some stories at Palacio Velasco and Palacio de Los Condes de Santovenia.

Why not visit the local castles? Castillo de San Carlos de la Cabana and Castillo de los Tres Santos Reyes Magnos del Morro will have you thinking you've been cast as the main character in a fairy tale.

Whether you consider yourself spiritual or not, you'll be sure enjoy an afternoon at Sanctuary of San Lazaro and Havana Cathedral. If you want to look at a couple more religious sites, have a walk about San Francisco Church and Santa Clara de Asis Convent.
