Well located historic hotel, just a little dated
Start by setting your expectations correctly. This is a hotel built in 1856 in Havana, Cuba. It would be three-star in Europe. But, it's incredibly well located and that's why we chose it. The service could be friendly and helpful, or indifferent. We were told the Internet is down, when what they really meant is they stop selling access cards at 7:00pm.

Well this comment has nothing to do with the hotel. The only thing I can say to all, if you are planing to visit Havana Cuba make sure you go without any expectations and open minded.

grand hotel which has seen better days
This is a fantastic hotel which has seen better days. You cannot dispute it’s absolutely fantastic location but the hotel needs a facelift. The water was frequently cold and the air on and hairdryer did not work properly. Breakfast was good value and the staff were friendly and helpful. In spite of its failings I would stay here again because of the character of the place and it’s location.

Historic Hotel, but only stay if you get a deal
Used points for a free night, which made it worth it, but wouldn't be worth the regular price. Cool to stay in a such a historic place, super clean, but a bit dreary as to be expected. Shower was tiny, but had hot water. Service wasn't great, wasn't terrible...employees aren't very friendly, but they seem to do their job. Free breakfast buffet had a lot of options, but most of it didn't look very appetizing so I stuck with the basics. Easy to catch a cab to airport for $30 right outside. Wifi worked well. Loved how central it was to everything. However, if this is your first visit to Cuba, I would highly recommend a casa over a hotel for a more unique experience.

The location is fantastic as are the staff. If you get the accommodation option with breakfast, the breakfast is well worth it. The property is quite noisy as there are bands playing at both ground level and on the roof every night until midnight, and all floors are tiled, so any noise echoes through the property.

The hotel is very nice, is next to all atraccion, the only complain is that I pay a room with city view and balcony, they give a room with balcony in a side street, I complin but they said that was the only one they have, I told them give me a refund and they say no, they was very rude, plus the terrace is in construction so you have to go to another hotel to be in the terrace

Nevertheless if you allow me I will explain to you. The hotel sells room with balcony and rooms without balcony rooms with balcony imply a higher price. The latter are distributed some in front of the hotel and others to the side but all have a view of the city, in the case of the side it overlooks to one of the most emblematic, architecturally beautiful and ancient buildings of the city, the Great Theater of Havana; they have no price difference between they. The hotel has few rooms distributed between, triple, double and single, in all cases with balcony or without balcony, which leaves few options for changes even when the hotel is not completely full because it really depends on the type of agreement available to what you need and bought. I reiterate our apologies for the imposibility of changing the room. We also offer you our apologies for the roof top bar, it is close. Tomorrow 1rst of November will be open. This hotel is nasty. The air does not work. The room is dirty. I have a Cuban guest who was on the reservation. The staff questioned him about why he was here while he was waking with me. I will have to take the loss in money if the change of rooms is not better which I doubt. I have never been in such a nasty place. This is more of a motel. Hotel Victoria was very nice on my last stay.. i decided to try this one because of the location. The only good thing is it is in the city.

Great hotel in a central location
My third visit to Havana,and I wanted to stay at another hotel with character,in a central location,and with a bedroom window with a view of the city.The hotel has a wonderful exuberant Entrance Hall,Dining Room,and Lounge Bar,and the upstairs corridors are tastefully packed with old decorative items and furniture.Loved the open rooftop bar,with its cheap cocktails,and live music every night from groups playing traditional,Salsa,and Latino music - perfect for dancing to.My Single Room in the hotel was very-reasonably priced and comfortable.The noise from the traffic outside did not disturb my sleep,as I had feared,and the balcony was a joy for standing out on and watching the city at work and play.Breakfast in the morning was expansive,with lots of choice,and musical accompaniment from the resident pianist.

Great location. The hotel is beautiful from the outside and the foyer is very impressive, however the rooms are in desperate need of a renovation. The first room we were given had old battered furniture, the curtains had come away from the railing and the bathroom smelt, we'd also booked a double bed but were given 2 singles. We tried to move rooms a couple of days later but were told we could not have a double bed even though it was clearly printed on my booking form, after some arguing, one of the staff with a less communist attitude found us a room with a double bed. The new room was slightly less run down but smelt of petrol. The food at the breakfast buffet was also pretty bad, but then the food in Cuba is generally not great. Wifi cards can be purchased for 1 CUC in 1 hour increments from reception, however they frequently run out of wifi cards and will send you to other hotels to buy them for an inflated price. I understand that Cuba is a developing country with limited access to things like new furniture, many foods and wifi, however this hotel was not cheap so our expectations were higher. Save your money and book a homestay (Bed & Breakfast) with a local Cuban family instead.

Hotel Inglaterra
Great historic place to stay in Havana, staff is very friendly and courteous. Hotel lacks some of the amenities newer hotels have but the charm of staying in a historic building makes up for it. Complimentary breakfast is a variety of food, juices, fruits and típical breakfast foods and live piano.

Historical hotel with character plenty in old town
We stayed here for 4 nights in April, 2018. It is our first time in Cuba and did not know what to expect. We picked this hotel because of its history, location, and closeness to our friends who were staying across from the plaza. It is dated but has its charms. Our room has a balcony overlooks the plaza which was quite awesome. The rooms probably could use some updating. There is potential. The breakfast isn't too bad and it is perfect before venturing out to sight see.

Great hotel, terrible attitude, failed booking :(
At check in, the hotel told me they had not received confirmation, despite me showing them my Expedie 'Booking confirmed, no need to do anything else' email and its corresponding itinerary link and details. So i was toild to wait, and wait i did, for more than 3 hours. During this time i called Expedia 4 times, they repeatedly told me 'dont worry we will resolve this, and call the hotel' etc. This did not happen. It was the evening, you can imagine my frustration, virtually no options for alternative accommodation and i had paid in full. The hotel offered finally to take a second payment from me (in case by the next day the expedia confirmation was still lost) - i reluctantly agreed. During this process some staff members were pleasant in their manner, while others (the front desk staff) were rude and snobby, speaking to me abruptly in an angry manner. I would have expected a 5 star hotel to put the customer first, and be sensitive to my situation, which was obviously not my fault, they did not. I would have expected a 5 star hotel to immediately issue the room to me, as it is no imposition to them since they have a binding and established agreement with Expedia, and they could clearly see my booking emails and online itinerary. The problem was clearly admin, between the agency and the hotel - not my error. They refused. The hotel responded to my Expedia check-in satisfaction email immediately that same evening, proving they were receiving Expedia comms- Go figure!
