  • A few kilometres downstream from Lake Taupo the river changes to some rapids for a short distance. When the rapids finish there is a drop which creates a waterfall. It all ends with this scene which is stunning. Only a 30 second walk from the car park to the river this shot was taken about a 5 minute walk further downstream on the main track at sunrise.

  • I would not usually consider a garden a must-see experience, but I am really glad a local told us to visit Hamilton Gardens. The experience of wandering through a maze of hedges that open into perfectly cultivated gardens plucked complete from other countries and other eras was quite possibly the closest I will ever come to feeling like Alice in Wonderland come to life. You never know what magical sight waits around the next bend in the path.

Good central city site. Room and facilities with queen bed, ensuite and kitchenette were tired and the cook top hob needs replacing (one heat only - high). Good parking and a big heated pool. Overall, given the condition, i expected to pay less.

I had booked for a couple of days for my daughters, while I was in hospital. Motel was very CLEAN, a little dated but lovely. Good size rooms for families. Our hostess was helpful and a pleasure to deal with. (Thank-you) Handy to everything, shops, cafes and the Studium. I will book here again. Good value for money.

Booked a one one bedroom apartment and we were given a studio. Fridge leaked. Room smelt. And curtains didnt cover the ranch slider so had to hang a blanket up.

We enjoyed our stay here, the kids loved the indoor pool and there was a great selection of TV Channel's available. Excellent location too, easy to find with supermarket etc in easy walking distance. Nice and quiet too.

Central motel close to Hamilton CBD

Tea and cofee condiments had not been replemished. Some saches were open and empty. Coffee cups did not appear to have been washed properly. No air con ,but a 3speed fan supplied.Unit dinning chairs wobbly . Bathroom shower water pressure was good, over spa bath ,but not allowed to use.(spa bath) Decor was drab, in need of update. Very noisey if unit above is occupied. Reminded me of a second rate motel in Bali,but had milk provided Cigarette tin outside room very smelly.

Broken room

My room was in bad condition. The window guard broke and also when I was doing the dishes, my sink detached and fell into the cupboard cavity!! Would not recommend this motel.

Only 6 Sky channels but only 4 working ,bad connection on aerial so picture distorted ,needs refurbishing ,carpet tatty, stove top all knobs where loose ,
