Hostaling Guayaquil!

Stayed here for one night. Chosed this hostel because it was close to the airport, it’s just a 3-5 min ride with a cab. Very helpful and friendly staff, it’s the owner and hes family and they living in the same building. Everything is new, clean and comfortable. Close, 3-4 min walk, to a shopping mall. Doesn’t now so much about the neighborhood because we only stay for one night, but it seems to be a calm place. Great value for the price!

This property is not a common hostal. It doesn’t have a sign outside, it is dark inside (no windows), the check-in was confusing and stressful, and only cash is accepted (no credit cards). The owner keeps the keys at all times so you basically have to ask him to open the doors (main door and room door) every single time you come back from running errands. We didn’t like the oppressive feeling and the lack of privacy and freedom to come and go as we pleased. We get that safety is an issue in this city, but this was way too ridiculous. The owner did try to be polite about it, but even these efforts felt intrusive.
