The Renwick

The Renwick

10/10 Excellent
"Excellent location and stay. Only 2-3 blocks from Grand Central, and 4-5 blocks from the NY Library and Bryant Park. It was a great location for a great price. Even for being close to a lot of busy areas, the area right out front is relatively quiet by NYC standards. So, you're not dealing with massive crowds in and around the hotel or passing by at all times of day/night. We were supposed to arrive quite early, and were going to drop the bag off to hold until we could check in at 4, but our train was badly delayed, so we ended up getting there just before 2, they were able to get us into a room then, so we could drop off and go and not have to worry about the check-in process later. Room was large enough for 2, and was pretty quiet during our stay. Bed was a bit soft for our liking, but no more than most hotels, so its just a personal preference. There is an attached bar/restaurant, that we got a evening drink in, but ended up getting breakfast near by in the morning (something we had checked out earlier), but its a nice space. Would definitely stay here again on the next overnight in New York."

Ameritania Hotel at Times Square

Ameritania Hotel at Times Square

8/10 Good
"Rooms could benefit from a little more LTC. The room we were in had a beautiful and massive mirror the minute you walk through the door but there was no lighting above or beside the mirror so it was a really dark entry way. Not much natural lighting in the room as the windows were in between buildings and scaffolds due to construction. Also the blinds covered the AC unit so the AC did not feel as strong and I was not able to adjust the temperature to make it stronger. No complaints about the service - staff were friendly and helpful as could be."

Pod 51

Pod 51

8/10 Good
"I was very happy with this affordable hotel that’s very conveniently located on Midtown Manhattan’s East Side. The full pod with the private bathroom was just right for me. It can accommodate 2 people but it’s most comfortable for one. There was enough room for my luggage, space to hang clothes, and under bed storage drawers. There’s even a little desk in the room. The bathroom area is a little unusual with a sliding frosted glass door that gives privacy when using the toilet but then you can totally see into the shower through a clear glass wall when you move the door. Again, it’s probably better suited for a solo traveler. I would’ve liked a mini fridge in the room to keep drinks cold but they don’t include that. You can purchase beverages and breakfast snacks in the lobby in the mornings. The rooftop deck was really nice to enjoy during the beautiful weather. The one thing that was a little disruptive was hearing other guests go in and out of the shared restrooms in the hallway, especially at times like 1am and 3am on a couple of nights and they were noisy, But overall it was a very pleasant experience and I would stay there again. I also appreciated the checkout time being 1:00pm, since it seems like most other hotels want you out by 11:00am. I did eat at Clinton Hall one night with friends and, though the food was fine, the music was blasting way too loud in there to carry on a decent conversation during dinner. I’d probably avoid dining there again."

"Wonderful location and elegant property. Even if you don’t stay there, it is worth a stop to admire the stunning lobby. Had a great stay: bed comfortable, easy walk to shopping, Times Square and grand central. Good walk to theatre and museums. The toilet was leaky and constantly refilling all night, but otherwise really loved it. Would definitely stay there again"
